Many diseases can be prevented by leading a healthy lifestyle. According to the International Nutrition Recommendations healthy diet and physical activity are the main factors in the promotion of health. The aim of this research was to find out the amount of knowledge about healthy lifestyle of Third graders (English immersion class) at Hollihaka School in Kokkola.
The method of the research was quantitative. There were 19 samples and 100% of responds in the study. The material was collected with a questionnaire. The pupils were able to make questions because researcher was present when they were filling it. The questions were about nutrition, physical activity and about sleep.
According to the results, this class considers exercise to be important and they value for its health effects. They were able to name examples of healthy and unhealthy foods but the knowledge of energy nutrients was tolerable. 79% of the pupils knew the adequate amount of sleep per night.
