Ajoneuvojen, opintojen ja opiskelijoiden automaattinen seurantajärjestelmä

Abstract

Tässä opinnäytetyössä tutustuttiin telemaattisiin järjestelmiin ja tutkittiin mahdollisuuksia yhdistää niitä toisiin tietojärjestelmiin oppilaitosympäristössä. Opinnäytetyöllä pyrittiin löytämään mahdollisuuksia eri tietokantojen yhdistämiseen ja niin sanotun turhan työn vähentämiseen. Vantaan ammattiopisto Varialla on käytössään toimintansa ohjaamiseksi monia eri yhteistyökumppaneita ja tietojärjestelmiä, joissa seurataan ja käsitellään samaa tietoa. Yhdistämällä näitä tietokantoja voitaisiin keskittyä oppilaitoksen ydintehtävään eli opetuksen järjestämiseen. Nykyisessä tilanteessa tämän informaatiovirran hallinta vaatii paljon työtä. Oppilaitos on velvollinen välittämään täsmällistä tietoa eri viranomaisille opiskelijoistaan. Useat eri henkilöt käsittelevät samoja asioita, eivätkä aina välitä saamaansa tietoa eteenpäin. Ajantasaisen tiedon puutteessa tapahtuu virheitä ja sekaannuksia, jotka olisivat helposti vältettävissä toimivalla tiedonsiirto- ja käsittelyjärjestelmällä. Tulevaisuuden kilpailukykyisten ohjelmiston tärkeimpiä ominaisuuksia on kyky yhdistellä erilaisia tietolähteitä asiakkaan tarpeita ja toimintoja vastaavaksi kokonaisuudeksi. Teknisesti tämä on mahdollista.

This thesis focuses on telematic systems and the possibility to link them to other information systems used in school environment. This thesis attempts to find these possibilities and thus lessen the amount of useless work. Varia works with many different information systems and co-operative partners in order to direct its own operation. These systems and partners monitor and handle the same kind of information and if their databases were combined, the school could focus on performing its main function: to arrange lessons. It takes a lot of work to handle all the information in the current situation. The school is obliged to send correct information about the students to certain authorities. Many different workers work with the same information but they might not share the fruits of their labor. The absence of up-to-date information leads to errors and misunderstanding that could be easily avoided with a functional information system. The ability to read and combine different kind of information sources to a product that suits the needs of a customer is one of the most important features in the competitive software of the future. Such a thing is technically possible to do.
