Microsoft SharePoint Server 2013 ja liiketoimintatiedon hallinta

Abstract

Tämän opinnäytetyön tarkoituksena oli tutkia ja testata Microsoft SharePoint Server 2013 -tuotteen Business Intelligence eli liiketoimintatiedon hallintaominaisuuksia. Tämän lisäksi opinnäytetyössä esitellään liiketoimintatiedon hallinnan keskeisimpiä käsitteitä, työkaluja ja teknologioita. Tutkimusten perusteella pohdittiin SharePointin soveltuvuutta liiketoimintatiedon hallinnan opetukseen. Luodusta dokumentoinnista tehtiin sellainen, että sen avulla testaukset on helppo toistaa.

Opinnäytetyö toteutettiin toimeksiantona Karelia-ammattikorkeakoululle, jonka tiloissa tehdyt testaukset suoritettiin. Testausympäristö pystytettiin käyttämällä koulun VMware-virtualisointialustaa, jonne asennettiin tarvittavat palvelimet. Palvelimien lisäksi käytössä oli yksi fyysinen tietokone, joka toimi ympäristössä niin sanottuna asiakaskoneena.

Opinnäytetyössä saavutettiin ennakkoon asetetut tavoitteet eli halutut testaukset saatiin vietyä pääosin läpi sekä luodusta dokumentaatiosta tehtiin sellainen, että sitä voidaan käyttää apuna tulevissa testauksissa. Ympäristön käyttöönoton aikana ilmeni monenlaisia ongelmia, mitkä osaltaan venyttivät työn valmistumista. Ongelmat saatiin kuitenkin ratkaistua ja testauksissa päästiin haluttuun lopputulokseen.

The goal of this thesis was to study and test the business intelligence features of Mi-crosoft SharePoint Server 2013. Thesis also covers the key concepts, tools and tech-nologies of business intelligence. On the basis of study, SharePoint's suitability for teaching business intelligence is discussed at the end of thesis. Documentation was also created in a way that testing was easy to repeat with the help of the documentation.

The thesis was commissioned by Karelia University of Applied Sciences and all the testing was done in its premises. The testing environment was assembled by using Karelia’s VMware virtualization platform on which all the used servers were installed. In addition to the servers, the environment also included one physical computer the purpose of which was to act as a client.

The goals set for the thesis in advance were achieved, all tests were completed suc-cessfully and documentation was created in a way that it could be used as a manual in the future. During the deployment of the testing environment there were many kinds of problems, which delayed the completion of the thesis. In the end majority, of the prob-lems were solved and the desired results were achieved.
