Tiivistelmä
Purpose:
To evaluate emergency department nurses' understanding of infectious diseases with an
emphasis on response capability, infection control procedures, and readiness.
Methods:
The method used was a descriptive literature review. A selection of publications was sourced from PubMed and CINAHL databases. Following the inclusion and exclusion criteria, a total of 8 articles were examined and
subjected to content analysis.
Results:
The results emphasized the need for training and uniform norms, variations in readiness across settings, and gaps in nurses' understanding of newly developing infectious illnesses.
Conclusion:
Strengthening nurses' response to infectious disease epidemics requires standardized assessment instruments, organized preparedness programs, and improved training.
