Eturauhassyöpäpotilaan tuen tarve hoitopolun eri vaiheissa : kirjallisuuskatsaus röntgenhoitajan näkökulmasta

Abstract

Opinnäytetyön tarkoituksena on selvittää eturauhassyöpäpotilaan tuen tarvetta hoitopolun eri vaiheissa. Tavoitteena on, että opinnäytetyöstä on hyötyä röntgenhoitajille, jotta heille olisi jatkossa entistä helpompaa tukea eturauhassyöpäpotilasta yksilöllisesti, potilaslähtöisesti sekä kunkin potilaan tarpeita vastaavasti ja voimavaroja tukevasti. Opinnäytetyö toteutettiin järjestelmällisenä kirjallisuuskatsauksena. Tutkimushaut kohdistettiin Cinahlin, Medicin, Medlinen ja Pubmedin tietokantoihin. Hakusanoina olivat prostate cancer, support, psychosocial support, information need, eturauhassyöpä sekä tuki. Sisäänottokriteerinä oli, että artikkelit vastasivat opinnäytetyön tarkoitusta. Kirjallisuuskatsauksen keskeisten tulosten mukaan eturauhassyöpäpotilaat kaipaavat tukea hoitopolun jokaisessa vaiheessa. Eniten tukea tarvittiin eturauhassyövän sekä sen hoidoista johtuvista haittavaikutuksista. Potilaita vaivasivat seksuaalielämän muutokset, joista tuen ja tiedon tarve olivat suuria. Eturauhassyöpäpotilaat kokivat, etteivät saaneet riittävästi emotionaalista tukea hoitohenkilökunnalta, mutta läheisiltä ja erityisesti puolisolta saatu tuki koettiin erittäin tärkeänä. Tuen tarpeet havaittiin todella yksilöllisiksi. Tuen antaminen vaatii röntgenhoitajalta herkkyyttä huomioida eturauhassyöpää sairastavan yksilölliset tarpeet.

The purpose of this thesis is to examine prostate cancer patients support need in different stages of the care pathway. The aim of this thesis is to benefit radiographers so that it would be easier for them to support prostate cancer patients’ individually, patient-centeredly and adjust to the needs of every patient and also support the existing resources. The method of this thesis is an organized literature review. The searches were targeted to Cinahl, Medic, Medline and PubMed databases. The search terms were prostate cancer, support, psychosocial support, information need, eturauhassyöpä and tuki. The inclusion criteria was that the selected articles answered to the purpose of this thesis. The main results showed that prostate cancer patients needed support every step along the care pathway. The largest amount of support was needed with the side effects of prostate cancer and its treatment. Patients had a hard time with changes of their sexuality and the need of support and knowledge were remarkable. Prostate cancer patients experienced that they didn’t receive enough support from the healthcare staff but instead the support received from close ones and especially their partner was really important. Providing support demands sensitivity from the radiographer to acknowledge every patients individual needs.
