TERVETULOA OSASTOLLE 2251 - Hoitotyön opiskelijoiden perehdytysopas Kuopion yliopistollisen sairaalan neurokirurgian osastolle

Abstract

Perehdyttämisessä on tarkoitus tutustuttaa opiskelija työympäristöön, tehdä positiivinen vaikutus, estää turhautumisen ja syrjäytyneisyyden tunteita. Perehdytyksessä tulee käydä läpi työelämän pelisäännöt, työturvallisuus, toimintamallit, arvot ja toimintaa ohjaavat periaatteet. Perehdytyksen avulla opiskelija pääsee helpommin mukaan työyhteisöön ja sen toimintaan.

Tässä toiminnallisessa opinnäytetyössä tuotoksena on perehdytysopas hoitotyön opiskelijoille, jotka ovat ammattitaitoa edistävässä harjoittelussa neurokirurgian osastolla. Osastolla ei ollut opiskelijoille tarkoitettua perehdytysopasta, joten tarve sille oli suuri. Oppaan avulla opiskelijat voivat perehtyä osastoon ja sen toimintaan. Opinnäytetyön tavoitteeksi asetettiin opiskelijaperehdytyksen parantaminen kyseisessä yksikössä ja perehdytyksen tukena toimiminen niin opiskelijoille kuin ohjaajille. Opinnäytetyössä tutkittiin myös neurokirurgiaa ja neurokirurgisen potilaan hoitotyötä. Oppaan tehtävänä on auttaa opiskelijoita ammattitaitoa edistävän harjoittelun alussa pääsemään sisään osaston käytäntöihin. Opiskelijat pystyvät palaamaan oppaan asioihin koko harjoittelun ajan.

Opinnäytetyöhön haettiin tietoa perehdyttämisestä, ammattitaitoa edistävästä harjoittelusta, neurokirurgiasta ja neurokirurgisesta hoitotyöstä. Tiedonhakuun käytettiin sähköisiä tietokantoja, KYSin toimintaohjeita ja muuta aiheeseen liittyvää kirjallisuutta. Opinnäytetyön teorian pohjalta laadittiin kirjallinen perehdytysopas kansiomuodossa. Opas julkaistaan myös KYSin intranetissä sähköisenä. Opasta on muokattu palautteiden perusteella toimeksiantajan tarpeisiin sopivaksi.

Oppaasta muodostui kattava ja tiivis kokonaisuus perehtyjälle. Neurokirurgian osasto voi päivittää perehdytysopasta ajankohtaiseksi ja tarpeidensa mukaiseksi. Jatkotutkimusaiheena voisi tulevaisuudessa olla tutkimus perehdytysoppaan toimivuudesta opiskelijoiden harjoittelun kulkuun. Tutkimuksella voisi selvittää, mitä hyötyä perehdytysoppaasta on ollut ja voisiko oppaaseen lisätä jotain.

The purpose of orientation is to familiarize the student with the working environment, to make a positive impact and to prevent the feelings of frustration and exclusion. The orientation should cover working life rules, work safety, operation models, values and the principles of guiding. The orientation helps the students to get in to the working community and to its activities more easily.

The output of this operational thesis is an orientation guide for nursing students, who are doing a practical training at the neurosurgery department. The guide allows students to familiarize themselves with the department and its activities. The target of the thesis was to improve student orientation in the unit and it should be supporting both the students and the supervisor. The unit had no orientation guide for students, so there was a great need for it. The thesis studied also neurosurgery and nursing of neurosurgical patients. The function of the guide is to help the students in the beginning of the practical training to get used to the customs of the department. The students are able to return to the topics covered in the guide throughout the practical training.

For writing the thesis information was searched on orientation, practical training, neurosurgery and neurosurgical nursing by using electronic databases and publications, Kuopio University Hospitals operating instructions and other related literature. A written orientation guide folder was formed based on theory. The guide is published also in Kuopio University Hospital intranet as an electronic form. The guide has been edited based on the feedback from the client.

The guide formed a comprehensive and compact information folder for the student. The neurosurgery department can update the orientation guide according to their own needs. A topic for further research could be to find out how the guide works in practice. The research could explore the benefits of the orientation guide and if there is something that should be added in the guide.
