Fanituotteiden suunnittelu Dirty River Roller Grrrls -Roller derby seuralle

Abstract

Opinnäytetyön tavoitteena oli suunnitella uusia tai paranneltuja fanituote ideoita toimeksiantajalleni Turkulaiselle Dirty River Roller Grrrls - Roller Derby seuralle. Tavoitteena oli saada tuotteissa näkymään Roller Derby – lajin asenne, ilme, ja tutkia millä keinoin nämä pystyttäisiin toteuttamaan.

Opinnäytetyö tapahtui tutkimuksellisesti kahdessa vaiheessa: ensin tutkittiin dokumenttiaineisto, havainnointiin ja suoritettiin benchmarking sekä kyselyt. Toisessa, eli viimeisessä vaiheessa, painotettiin tekemällä tutkimista, kuten koottiin lajista ja tuoteideoista mood boardeja, kollaaseja, luonnostelua ja piirrettyjä tasokuvia.

Tutkimustulosten pohjalta rakentui uusia vaate- ja asuste-ehdotelmia, kuten legginsejä, shortseja, reppuja, vyölaukkuja, lippalakkeja ja laserleikattuja pinssejä. Suunnitellut tuotteet esiteltiin Dirty River Roller Grrrls -seuran tuotteista vastaavalle ryhmälle ja tuotekehitystä jatkettiin palautteen perusteella. Lopulliset tuoteparannukset ja ehdotelmat esitettiin havainnekuvien ja tasokuvien muodossa Adobe Illustrator ja Photoshop –ohjelmien avulla.

The purpose of this thesis was to design new merchandise products for the employer Dirty River Roller Grrrls, the local Roller Derby team in Turku. The aim was to design products, which appeal to the attitude and temperament of the sport, as well as research different approaches in order to realize this aim.

The thesis was conducted in two parts. Firstly, the related documents were thoroughly researched, observations were made, and benchmarking and interviews were conducted. Secondly, the emphasis was on investigating ways in which the sport can be presented by using, for example, mood boards on product ideas, collages, sketches and technical drawings.

New merchandise, such as leggings, shorts, pack bags, bum bags, caps and laser cut pins, was created in regards to the research results. The designed products were presented to the Dirty River Roller Grrrls -merchandise team and the design development proceeded based on their feedback. The concluding pieces of clothing and accessories produced as a part of the project were presented with the help of Photoshopped images and Illustrator technical drawings.
