René Magritten teokset visuaalisen esityksen lähtökohtana : esityksen ennakkosuunnitteluvaiheen taiteellisen prosessin tarkastelua

Abstract

Tässä opinnäytetyöni kirjallisessa osassa tarkastelen omaa kokemustani taiteellisen opinnäytetyöni ennakkosuunnitteluvaiheen taiteellisessa prosessissa. Taiteellinen opinnäytetyöni on esitys, jonka valmistamisen lähtökohtana toimivat belgialaisen surrealistin René Magritten teokset. Luon teoksista omat tulkintani näyttämölle.

Kutsun René Magritten teoksien inspiroimana syntyviä tulkintojani näyttämökompositioiksi. Keskityn tässä kirjallisessa opinnäytetyössäni erityisesti näyttämökompositioiden suunnitteluprosessin tarkasteluun.

Aluksi käsittelen valintoja, jotka liittyvät päätökseeni käyttää esityksen lähtökohtana kuvataidetta ja erityisesti René Magritten teoksia. Sen jälkeen kerron kuinka olen valinnut Magritten laajasta tuotannosta esityksen inspiraation lähteeksi päätyvät teokset. Sen lisäksi käsittelen kahden tapausesimerkin kautta miten olen suunnitellut esityksen näyttämökompositioita Magritten teosten inspiroimana. Lopuksi esittelen kolme dramaturgista mallia, joiden avulla minun on mahdollista järjestää näyttämökompositiot esitykseksi.

Opinnäytetyöni kirjoittaminen on toiminut minulle johdatuksena siihen millaisen työmenetelmän näyttämökompositioiden suunnitteluun voin pitkällä ajanjaksolla luoda. Uskon, että työtavat, joita hahmottelen soveltuvat myös laajemmin taiteellisiin prosesseihin, joiden lähtökohtana toimivat kuvat tai muu visuaalinen materiaali kuten esineet.

In this bachelor’s thesis I analyze my own experiences in my preparatory work in the creative process of my artistic thesis. My artistic thesis is a performance, which is based on the works of Belgian surrealist René Magritte. I create my own scenic interpretations from the basis of Magritte’s artworks.

In this thesis I call these interpretations as scenic compositions. My main focus is in the analysis of the preparatory artistic work in creating these scenic compositions.

At first I will consider the choices, which are connected to my decision to use fine arts, and especially René Magritte’s works, as a base of my performance. After that I will tell how I have chosen the works from Magritte’s versatile production. In addition to that I consider how I have created the scenic compositions, inspired by the Magritte’s works, by describing and analyzing two cases. At the end I will present three dramaturgical models, which I will use as dramaturgical tool by the time I’m creating the dramaturgy for my performance.

Writing this bachelor’s thesis has worked for me as an introduction to the working method I’m creating within a long period of time: the working method for the preparatory work in creating scenic compositions. I believe that the working methods that I describe here can be helpful also for the other artists who are dealing with visual performances and visual materials, such as objects.
