Päihdemuistisairaan hoitotyö - Opas uuden työntekijän perehdyttämiseksi

Abstract

Alkoholin käyttäminen ikääntyneiden keskuudessa on ollut jatkuvassa kasvussa. Tämä on aiheuttanut sen, että yhä useampi ikääntynyt sairastuu alkoholin aiheuttamaan muistisairauteen. Alkoholin takia muistisairastuneet henkilöt vaativat erityisosaamista, joten Suomeen on perustettu hoitokoteja joihin näiden henkilöiden hoitoa on pyritty keskittämään.

Opinnäytetyön tarkoituksena oli tuottaa opas uuden työntekijän perehdyttämiseksi Pie-lisen-Karjalan Dementiakoti Oy:lle. Tavoitteena oli tehdä oppaasta selkeä ja ytimekäs kokonaisuus, joka helpottaa uuden työntekijän perehdyttämistä työyksikköön. Opinnäytetyön toiminnallisesta tuotoksesta päätettiin tehdä kokemusperäiseen tietoon pohjautuva opas, jotta se palvelisi työyksikön tarpeita mahdollisimman hyvin. Oppaasta on hyötyä sekä työnantajalle että työntekijälle, koska se auttaa perehdyttäjää jäsentämään perehdytystä. Opas voi toimia myös uuden työntekijän tukena ensimmäisten työpäivien aikana. Opinnäytetyön tietoperustassa käsitellään ikääntyneiden alkoholinkäyttöä, al-koholin vaikutusta muistisairauteen sekä perehdyttämistä.

Toiminnallisen osuuden sisältö on kerätty tietoperustan lisäksi kyselylomakkeilla hoitokodin henkilökunnalta sekä työyksikön esimiehiltä. Jatkossa työyksikkö voi muokata opasta tarpeidensa mukaan. Kyseessä on työyksikön ensimmäinen perehdyttämiseen liittyvä opas, joten käytännön työstä saattaa tulla kehittämisideoita oppaaseen.

Alcohol consumption among older people is increasing constantly. As a result an increasing number of old people fall ill with alcohol-related memory disorders. As nursing care of these people requires special knowledge, efforts have been made in Finland to establish specialised nursing homes for this client group. The purpose of this thesis was to produce an orientation guide for new employees of Pielisen-Karjalan Dementiakoti Oy. The aim was to devise an explicit and compact guide, which facilitates the orientation of a new employee to this nursing home. In order to serve the needs of the nursing home as well as possible, it was decided that the practise-based part of the thesis will be based on experiential knowledge. The guide is useful for the employer and the employee, because it helps the person in charge of the orientation to structure the process. The guide can also support the new employee during the first days of work. The content of the practise-based part was based on the theoretical part of the thesis and in addition, a survey was carried out among the staff and the manager of the nursing home. In future, the nursing home can develop the guide according to their needs. Since this is the nursing home’s first orientation guide for new employees, develop-ment ideas may emerge later from actual practical work.
