"Asiat, jotka ovat aikuiselle pieniä, ovat lapselle isoja" : Päiväkotikiusaaminen vanhempien näkökulmasta

Abstract

Opinnäytetyössä selvitetään vanhempien näkemyksiä ja tietoutta lasten päiväkotikiusaamisesta; antaako päiväkodin henkilökunta riittävästi tietoa kiusaamistapauksista ja miten vanhemmat näkevät henkilökunnan puuttumisen kiusaamistilanteisiin. Lisäksi haluttiin selvittää, kertovatko lapset itse vanhemmilleen mahdollisista kiusaamistapauksista. Tarkoituksena oli saada tietoa vanhempien ja henkilökunnan välisestä yhteistyöstä. Päiväkodin henkilökunta hyötyi opinnäytetyöstä saamalla tietoa vanhempien kokemuksista ja näin pystyy kehittämään yhteistyötä vanhempien kanssa.

Opinnäytetyön kohderyhmänä olivat lappeenrantalaisen päiväkodin neljän lapsiryhmän vanhemmat. Opinnäytetyö on sekä laadullinen että määrällinen selvitys, joka toteutettiin käyttäen puolistrukturoitua kyselylomaketta. Aineisto kerättiin tammikuussa 2015, kyselyyn vastasi 23 vanhempaa. Tulosten pohjalta voidaan todeta, että päiväkodissa tapahtuu kiusaamista. Vastausten perusteella vanhemmat ovat suurimmaksi osaksi tyytyväisiä henkilökunnan toimintaan, henkilökunta on ammattitaitoista ja keinot puuttua kiusaamistilanteisiin ovat riittäviä. Jatkossa voisi selvittää eroavaisuuksia eri-ikäisten lasten kiusaamiskokemuksista ja selvittää kuinka päivähoidon henkilökunta tukee lasten sosiaalisia taitoja ja vertaissuhteita.

The aim of this Bachelor thesis was to study the parents’ knowledge and views regarding bullying in kindergarten; does the kindergarten staff give enough information about the occurrences of bullying and how do parents’ view the staff’s methods of handling aforementioned situations. Furthermore, it was studied if the children themselves told their parents about possible bullying occurrences. The goal was also to find out information about the collaboration between the parents and the staff. The staff of the kindergarten benefited from the bachelor thesis as they got information about parents’ experiences and therefore can further develop the collaboration between the parents and the kindergarten.

The target group of the bachelor thesis was the parents of four child groups in a kindergarten which is located in Lappeenranta. The bachelor thesis is both a qualitative and quantitative report, which was executed using a half structured question form. The material was collected in January 2015, with 23 replies from parents. From the basis of the results in can be stated that there is bullying in kindergarten. According to the answers the parents are mostly satisfied with the actions of the staff, the staff is considered competent and the methods of inter-vening in bullying occurrences are sufficient.

In the future there could be further study regarding the bullying between different age groups in children and find out how the staff of the kindergarten sup-ports the child’s social skills and peer relationships.
