Abstract

Opinnäytetyön tavoitteena oli suunnitella Mannerheimin Lastensuojeluliiton Pohjois-Pohjanmaan piirille paikallisyhdistyksiä tukeva ja yhdistävä vertaistoiminnan tuettu toimintamalli, Vieruskaveri. Tarkoituksena oli luoda toimintamalli, jonka avulla paikallisyhdistyksiä tuodaan yhteen piirin tukemien vertaistapaamisten kautta. Vertaistapaamisten tavoitteena on kehittää paikallisyhdistysten toimivuutta, edesauttaa vapaaehtoisten jaksamista, motivoitumista ja voimaantumista vapaaehtoistyössään sekä lisätä yhdistysten välistä yhteistyötä.

Opinnäytetyön painopiste oli kehittämisessä ja työn lopputuotteena syntyi tuotteistamisen kautta toimintamalli, joka sisältää yhdistysten vertaistapaamisia ohjaavan työvihkon sekä ohjeistuksen ohjaajalle. Toimintamallin kokeiluun osallistui kolme yhdistysparia ja heiltä saadun palautteen mukaan tuote arvioitiin ja viimeisteltiin. Opinnäytetyössä pohditaan myös toimintamallin soveltamista evankelis-luterilaisen seurakunnan diakoniatyöhön.

Toimintamallin suunnittelu onnistui hyvin. Kokeilun palautteista nousi esiin tyytyväisyys kokeiluun osallistumisesta ja uusien kontaktien löytymisestä. Vertaistapaamisille asetetut tavoitteet toteutuivat jonkin verran jo tapaamisten aikana, mutta tulevaisuus näyttää lopulta, ottavatko yhdistykset tapaamisista saadut työkalut jokapäiväiseen käyttöön.

The main aim of this thesis was to plan a facilitated peer support operating model, Vieruskaveri, for The Mannerheim League for Child Welfare, Northern Ostrobothnia district, Finland. The purpose of this operating model is to support the work of local chapters and to interrelate them. The intention was to create an operating model which could bring together local chapters via peer support meetings supported by the district. The goals of the peer support meetings are to develop local chapters’ everyday operations, to support volunteers’ wellbeing and motivation, and to empower them in their voluntary work as well as increase their cooperation.

This thesis was a developmental project. The final result of this process was the creation of an operating model which included a worksheet for the peer support meetings and guidelines for the adviser. Six local chapters (forming three pairs) participated in these experimental meetings. The product was evaluated and finalized after receiving feedback from the meetings. This thesis also considers the use of the operating model in diaconal work in The Evangelical Lutheran church.

It was concluded that the planning of the operating model succeeded very well. The participants’ feedback indicated that they were happy to take part in the experiment and that they were pleased to have new contacts with other local chapters. In the meetings, the goals were reached partially. Over time, it will be seen whether all these tools gained from the meetings will find their way to the local chapters’ everyday work.
