Implanttiabutmenttien valintaan liittyvät haasteet

Abstract

Tämän opinnäytetyön tarkoituksena oli selvittää abutmentin valintaan liittyviä ongelmia. Tavoitteena oli löytää vastauksia kysymyksiin: Mitä abutmentin valinnassa tulee ottaa huomioon? Mitä vääränlainen abutmentti voi aiheuttaa? Kuinka näitä ongelmia voitaisiin välttää? Opinnäytetyö tehtiin yhteistyössä Dentsply Implantsin kanssa.

Tutkimus oli laadullinen ja toteutettiin teemahaastatteluina. Työhön haastateltiin hammaslääkäreitä ja -teknikoita, jotta saatiin mahdollisimman kattava kuva implanttitöiden ongelmista. Haastattelut nauhoitettiin ja litteroidusta aineistosta poimittiin opinnäytetyön kannalta tärkeimmät asiat, joiden pohjalta kerättiin vastaukset tutkimusongelmiin.

Abutmentin valintaan liittyvät ongelmat keskittyivät estetiikkaan, puhdistettavuuteen ja toiminnallisuuteen. Koska yhteistyön tehostaminen nousi voimakkaasti esille ongelmien ratkaisun välineenä, koottiin hammaslääkäreiden ja -teknikoiden kertomat parannusehdotukset yhteistyötä helpottavista keinoista opinnäytetyöhön.

Työelämässä tiedetään hyvin abutmentin valintaan liittyvistä haasteista, mutta kiireen ja implanttihoitojen nopean kehityksen vuoksi toimintatavat eivät ole vakiintuneet. Nykyteknologian laajempi hyödyntäminen ja vastuualueiden tarkempi sopiminen lääkäreiden ja teknikoiden kesken helpottaisivat kommunikaatiota kentällä. Yhteisillä koulutuksilla olisi tärkeä merkitys ongelmien ratkaisemiseksi.

The purpose of this study was to examine the problems related to the choice of abutments. Our goal was to find answers to the questions: what should be noticed when selecting an abutment, what can wrong abutment cause, and how could these problems be avoided. We did this thesis in cooperation with Dentsply Implants.

Our research was qualitative and we used theme interview. We interviewed dentists and dental technicians to get the most comprehensive picture of the problems. We recorded the interviews, transcribed the material and then gathered the answers to research questions.

Problems related to the choice of abutment focused on aesthetics, cleanability and functionality. Since the enhancement of cooperation could be seen in most of the answers, we gathered the matters that could facilitate cooperation between dentists and technicians in our thesis.

Challenges relating to the choice of abutment are well known in working life. The rapid development of implant systems and the constant pressure of busy work environment are the reasons why practices are not well established. A wider usage of modern technology and agreeing on the exact areas of responsibility between dentists and technicians could facilitate communication in the field. The trainings where both dentists and technicians could participate in would play an important role in solving problems.
