Syöpätautia sairastavan myöhäisleikki-ikäisen lapsen sairaalapelot -puuhakirja selviytymiskeinoista

Abstract

Opinnäytetyö toteutettiin tuotekehitysprojektina, ja sen tarkoituksena oli suunnitella ja toteuttaa puuhakirja Kuopion yliopistollisen sairaalan lasten veri- ja syöpätautien osastolle 2403. Opinnäytetyömme tavoitteena oli puuhakirjan avulla lisätä leikki-ikäisen lapsen ja vanhemman keinoja kestää, käsitellä ja lieventää pelkoja selviytymiskeinojen avulla. Opinnäytetyössä tuotettiin teoriatiedon pohjalta aineistoa, joka fokusoituu syöpää sairastaviin leikki-ikäisiin lapsiin ja heidän pelkoihinsa sekä niistä selviytymiskeinoihin sairaalassa.

Toimeksiantajanamme toimi Kuopion yliopistollisen sairaalan lasten veri- ja syöpätautien osasto 2403. Teimme yhteistyötä lasten veri- ja syöpätautien osaston lastentarhanopettajan kanssa. Molemmille opinnäytetyön tekijöille lastenhoitotyö on hyvin tärkeä hoitotyön aihealueena. Toimme uutta näkökulmaa lasten sairaalapelkoihin tuomalla esille selviytymiskeinoja puuhakirjan tehtävien avulla.

Puuhakirja on 16 sivua pitkä. Puuhakirjassa on 14 puuhatehtävää 4 - 6-vuotiaille lapsille. Puuhakirjan teoreettiset lähtökohdat koottiin laajasta ajankohtaisesta ja tutkimustietoon perustuvasta kirjallisuudesta. Teoriaosuudessa käsiteltiin leikki-ikäisen lapsen kehitystä ja sen merkitystä puuhakirjan tehtävätyyleihin. Lisäksi käsiteltiin sairaalapelkoja, selviytymiskeinoja, lasten syöpätauteja sekä lasten ja nuorten hoitotyön periaatteita. Teoreettisten lähtökohtien pohjalta suunnittelimme ja toteutimme puuhakirjan tuotekehitysprojektina. Jatkotutkimuksissa voisi selvittää, miten puuhakirjaa on käytetty osastolla. Lisäksi jatkossa voisi toteuttaa puuhakirjan, jossa käytetään puuhakirjan ulkopuolelle jääviä selviytymiskeinoja.

The thesis was carried out as development project and its purpose was to design and implement a chore book for Kuopio University Hospital Children's haematology and oncology ward 2403. Our goal was to design a chore book that would give the toddler child and the parent more tools to cope with, process and alleviate fears. This thesis produced material on the basis of theoretic knowledge, which is focused on preschool aged children with cancer and their fears as well as on their coping strategies in the hospital.

The commissioner of our thesis was Kuopio University Hospital Children’s haematology and oncology ward 2403. The chore book is based on previous research findings and literature. We worked together with the children's blood and kindergarten oncology department. Both authors of this thesis see paediatric nursing a very important subject area within nursing. We brought a new perspective on children's hospital fears by emphasizing coping strategies using the chore book functions.

The chore book contains 16 pages. The book has 14 tasks for toddlers of 4 - 6 years of age. The theoretical starting points were compiled from a wide literature base including current research and research data. The theoretical part dealt with the development of preschool-aged children and the importance of choosing age-relevant task types for the chore book. In addition, we addressed hospital fears, coping skills, pediatric cancer diseases, as well as the principles of nursing children and young people. On the basis of these theoretical starting points, we designed and launched a chore book as a development project.

A follow-up research could examine how the chore book has been taken into use in the department. A study proposal for further research would be to implement a chore book about the coping skills that were excluded from our chore book.
