Tyks Kantasairaalan viheralueet ja puusto 1800-luvun lopulta tähän päivään

Abstract

Tämän opinnäytetyön tavoitteena oli kertoa Tyks Kantasairaalan viheralueiden ja puuston historiasta 1800-luvun lopulta tähän päivään, jotta historian tietämys antaisi perspektiiviä tämän päivän rakentamiselle ja alueen kunnossapidolle. Tavoitteena oli myös herättää kiinnostus ja kunnioitus erityisesti alueella vielä kasvaviin vanhoihin puihin ja toisaalta tuoda tietoisuuteen puiden säännöllisen hoidon tärkeys ja rakentamisen tuomat haasteet viherympäristölle. Alueen puiden merkitystä korostettiin myös viheromaisuutena. Puiden kuntokartoitusraportti päivitettiin, jotta oltaisiin ajan tasalla puiden hoidon tilanteesta ja hoidon jatkotarpeista. Opinnäytetyössä avattiin myös viheralan käsitteitä ja ohjeistuksia. Opinnäytetyössä tiedostettiin rakennuskannan tiivistymisen, läpäisemättömien pinnoitteiden, ilmaston lämpenemisen ja puiden sairauksien tuomat haasteet niin puille kuin niiden kunnossapitäjille. Tavoitteena on myös katsoa tulevaisuuteen, mitä se tuo tullessaan, millaisia asioita tulee ottaa huomioon ja mitä uusia asioita olisi mahdollisuus tehdä pientenkin alueiden viherryttämiseen. Yhtenä tällaisena esimerkkinä ovat mikrometsät. Työssä haluttiin myös antaa ideoita alueiden ennallistamiseen kuvallisten istutussuunnitelmien, havainnekuvien ja kasviluetteloiden muodossa. The aim of this thesis was to tell the history of the green areas and trees of the Tyks Hospital from the end of the 19th century to the present day, so that the knowledge of history would give a perspective for today's construction and maintenance of the area. The aim was also to create interest and respect for the old trees still growing on the site and to raise awareness of the importance of regular tree maintenance and the challenges to the green environment posed by construction. The importance of the trees in the area was also highlighted as a green asset. The tree condition survey report was revised to update the status of tree maintenance and further maintenance needs. The thesis also introduced concepts and guidelines for greening. The thesis recognized the challenges posed to both trees and their managers by denser building stock, impervious surfaces, global warming and tree diseases. The aim is also to look to the future, what it will bring, what issues have to be considered and what new things could be done to green small areas. One such example is micro-forests. The work also aimed to provide ideas for the restoration of areas in the form of illustrated planting plans, observation photos and plant lists. The work was commissioned by Varha.
