Sähköisen ohjelman tuottamien dokumenttien avulla yksittäisten asuntojen tietoa on helpompi käsitellä yrityksen eri osa-alueilla. Asunnon ostaneille jää tilausvahvistuksena selkeä tieto oman asunnon valinnoista. Mahdollisesti tulevaisuudessa asunnon materiaalivalinnat ja muutostyöt voidaan yrityksessä hoitaa kokonaan sähköisesti, mikäli ohjelmisto on riittävän laadukas ja palvelee käyttäjiä heidän odotustensa mukaisesti. The goal for this thesis was to study how an electronic material selection tool, Moor, functions in a mid-sized construction company from the customers point of view. The intension of this thesis was not to study other functionalities of the program. This research is a part of the company’s own development project to improve the electronic system for their customers.
The research part of this thesis was conducted with the help of an electronic questionnaire form and personal interviews. The survey was targeted for house-buying clients who already had used the Moor material-selection software. The clients who answered the survey, had bought an apartment from the company within the past two years and had been the first ones to use the Moor program. The questions were partly open and partly structured and focused on the usability of the Moor program from the client’s point of view. The clients were asked how they experienced the software and if there was something that needed developing. The interviews were targeted to clients, who had ordered changes to the standard materials.
According to the research, the clients felt that a material selection program is a modern solution. The current Moor program, on the other hand, was old-fashioned.The clients felt the picture quality should be better and the material lists needed more details. Extra and modification work selections and approving them, considered slightly a bit difficult. Very few clients, who had bought an apartment for personal use, were ready to make their decisions on modification and extra work, solely with the current program. They prefer to see the physical products and agree on the extra and modification work in other ways. These functions considered too difficult with the program.
The research provided the company with the required information for the upcoming development project. The documents produced by an electronic software allow the company handle individual apartment details more easily in different sectors. Clients buying an apartment will receive a confirmation of the purchase details. Possibly, in the future, all the modification workorders and material selections can be completed electronically, in case the software is good enough and serves the clients the way they prefer.
