The purpose of this thesis is to compile a country profile of the Netherlands. The work could also be seen as a guide for companies that are planning to expand their business to the market of the Netherlands. The first part of the thesis includes mostly theory and facts. In the empirical part of the work a survey has been done among five small and middle-sized companies in Ostrobothnia, all in different stages of their intarnationalization. The aim was to find out whether there is need of a guide about the Netherlands before the export process starts. The theory part includes the basic facts about the Netherlands, like history, culture, economy, politics, infrastructure, trade, labor and law. All theory is gathered from the internet because from there the most up-to-date information is found. The survey that is covering only five companies cannot be seen as universal but as indicative. The result shows that companies that are in the planning-phase of their export would utilize the benefits of a country profile of the Netherlands more than the companies that are already exporting there.
