The purpose of this thesis is to examine what youths placed in child protection in Finnish conditions think about spiritual and existential questions and how you as a professional can face these questions in a professional way.
In our thesis we have two questions that we have tried to get answers to. The first question is what youths placed in child protection thinks about spiritual and existential questions and the other question focus on how professionals face these questions in a professional way.
Our thesis is based on a theoretical text and the method that we have used is a reductive qualitative content analysis. In the method we have thought out of a rationalistic hermeneutic perspective.
The result for our first question is that we could not answer it because it has not been made any researches that describes how it is in Finnish conditions. We only found one research but it was made in The United States and cannot be used to describe how it is in Finnish conditions. We have built up our own hypothesis as a result and the result is why is this happening to me? Is there a higher power watching over me? Why do I feel like this when everybody else seems to feel fine? How will I ever be able to trust someone?
The result for our second question is based on scientific theoretical literature. The result is mutual respect, building confidence, empathy, you have to be on the same level as the client and honesty. Honesty means to not answer questions you do not have answers to. You should be able to say that you do not have the answer for the question.
