The problematic of enhancing already existing systems and mechanisms in HVAC-engineering is fundamental. Therefore, it is important to approach it from unobvious points of view and research unorthodox enhancing mechanisms. HVAC applications that are based on ultrasonic enhancement are not well-known and barely presented in the pilot or industrial scale, therefore the question of research of application of ultrasound in HVAC was chosen for this work.
The objective of the thesis was to find, study and present prominent ultrasonically enhanced mechanisms for HVAC. It was also interesting to find other potential fields of application of ultrasound related to the study field. The aim was to investigate theoretical and technical fundamentals behind the topic, analyse various literature sources and generalize researched data.
Research methods and the process of the study were based on thorough literature search and analysis supplemented with deep and comprehensive theoretical immersion in the question. XAMK’s e-library was used to find suitable sources for the analysis. Further work was done without the application of specific software or tools.
The study showed that ultrasound can be applied for enhancing performance of heat exchangers, modified air conditioning systems, improved air filtration as well as for frost suppression. The efficiency and benefits of such applications were examined, however certain constraints were described too. Methodologies in the related studies were pointed out in the summary table in the results and prospects of the technology were discussed
