Tiivistelmä
This thesis was aimed to assess the impact of energy efficiency measures on operational performance in the Finnish metal manufacturing industry, with a focus on optimizing performance and minimizing environmental impacts. A qualitative research methodology was employed, utilizing data from various online sources related to Finnish metal companies implementing sustainable management practices. The findings demonstrated a significant relation between energy efficiency measures and enhanced operational performance. Companies that adopted energy-saving technologies reported substantial cost reductions, improved productivity, and lower energy consumption. Specifically, firms implementing sustainability strategies experienced a decrease in operational costs and a notable reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. Enhanced waste management practices were also observed, leading to more efficient use of resources. The study underscores the critical role of energy efficiency in driving both financial and environmental benefits within the sector. Based on the findings, it is recommended that metal manufacturing firms invest in advanced energy-efficient technologies, cultivate a corporate culture that prioritizes sustainability, and participate in collaborative networks to share best practices. Additionally, ongoing training programs can be implemented to ensure employees are equipped to engage with sustainable management practices effectively.
