In response to global sustainability issues, businesses are increasingly accepting Green Organizational Development (GOD) to integrate environmental responsibility into their core business operations. This study analyzes Green Organizational Development’s (GOD) contribution to achieving sustainable organizational change. More specifically, this study analyzes the role, contribution, and importance of Green Organizational Development practices in everyday business functions, green transformation good practices, and environmental efficiency gaps, as well as the most recently implemented good practices of GOD in different organizations and their measurement. This study builds upon and refines previous works and concepts by adding GOD as a major area of focus for improving operational and environmental efficiency.
The author reviews existing studies to identify the methods, techniques, practices, and factors that influence the application of GOD. Results show that it is possible to enhance organizational sustainability through God, which promotes eco-conscious values, efficient use of resources, engagement from stakeholders, and even sustainable leadership at the very least. Effective practices of God offered by the respondent organization include but are not limited to, environmental and policy auditing, green technologies, circular economy, and eco-solutions. However, problems such as regular economic shifts for the organizations arise.
Fulfilling the existing gaps in the literature, the research emphasizes holistic measurement models, cross-disciplinary approaches, and longitudinal studies for examining the long-term impacts of GOD initiatives. However, future research should study sector-specific uses of GOD, cross-cultural and geographical considerations, and the application of emerging technologies. By completing these knowledge gaps, organizations could develop more sustainable and resilient business models that facilitate economic and environmental sustainability for operating in an ever-growing globalized competitive environment.
