This study explores how problems with infrastructure affect logistics efficiency in Nigeria. It focuses on how bad roads, unreliable power supply, port congestion, and lack of digital infrastructure complicate logistics operations.
Using a qualitative study design, data was gathered through semi-structured interviews with key stakeholders and case studies of logistics companies. Thematic analysis revealed that gaps in infrastructure significantly increase transportation costs, delay deliveries, and reduce supply chain reliability.
Despite these challenges, the findings indicate that technological solutions, such as GPS tracking, warehouse management systems, and mobile logistics applications, are becoming increasingly important in addressing these issues and enhancing service quality.
The analysis also identifies best practices for sustainable logistics, including optimizing routes, consolidating shipments, and adopting green technologies. Case studies of GIG Logistics and DHL Nigeria demonstrate that digital innovation can improve operational performance and environmental sustainability, particularly in areas with limited infrastructure.
The study concludes that Nigeria must embrace technology, secure legislative support, and strategically invest in infrastructure to enhance logistics efficiency in the long term.
