Urban populations have grown rapidly, and there has been a need for efficient resource management to adopt smart city technologies worldwide. The research investigates the role of modern technologies in building smart cities and improving their infrastructure. It aims to review how urban technologies are affecting important systems in cities, primarily by ensuring the best possible public services, ease of travel, and overall comfort. Data was collected through a mixed-methods approach. Derived from surveys, interviews of urban planners and policymakers, and case studies of cities. implementing smart city initiatives. The work focuses on the key technologies that make urban ease of life. (AI) 5G networks, IoT (Internet of Things), and sustainable urban planning solutions. The main problems that the cities have encountered are identified by financial constraints, technological integration, and others related to the implementation of these technologies. The problems that emerge due to issues, resistance to change, and hindrances to public and private collaboration.
Familiarity with smart city concepts is positively correlated with satisfaction with urban services, particularly public transportation. Examples in cities such as Amsterdam and Singapore. From the case studies, the researcher has tried to identify the insights that make smart city initiatives successful and how this impacts the improvement of urban living. In addition, studies illustrate that fiduciary governance, the set policies, and public-private partnerships are necessary for achieving smart cities. Recommendations are offered by the study in conclusion that will help policymakers and urban planners to overcome existing barriers, encourage public engagement, and foster collaboration between diversified sectors. Especially, it signifies directions for future research. Developing a smart city involves making sure social equity is present, ensuring personal data is safe, and ensuring the city will last long term. It adds to the understanding of urban connectivity. Cities can become more efficient, sustainable, and livable places when technologies are applied.
