The adoption of Green Information Systems by SMEs in developing countries plays a crucial role in promoting environmental sustainability, improving health, and aiding environmental performance. Green Information Systems are systems established to enhance eco-friendly performance that is sustainable and also enables organizations to reduce environmental footprint. The study aimed to examine the level of Green IS adoption in developing countries, with special reference to Nigeria, and evaluate how effective these adoptions have been in environmental enhancements. The study employed a quantitative research approach, and data were collected using a structure or close-ended survey (Google form which enabled easy distribution and automatic data collection). Around 100 web based questionnaires were shared among workers of different SMEs in Nigeria, and 60 valid responses were gotten and used for the study. The result revealed a high level of SMEs adoption in developing countries (78.6%) and shows that the implementation has been very effective. The study concluded by recommending actionable steps to SMEs in developing countries can take to further improve their environmental performance.
