Rollspel som arbetsmetod i ungdomsverksamheten

Abstract

Studien gjordes som ett beställningsarbete till Finlands Röda Kors, Österbottens svenska distrikt. I studien kommer jag kort att berätta om Röda Korset och om rollspel, samt sedan fördjupar mig i samarbets-/ ungdomsprojektet På Flykt som genomfördes i med FRK Helsingfors och Nylands- Åboland- Ålands- och Österbottens svenska distrikt. Syftet med denna studie var att undersöka hur Finlands Röda Korsets ungdomsverksamhet i fortsättningen skulle kunna använda sig av rollspel i som arbetsmetod i sin verksamhet. Projektet har finansierats av medel från Folke Bernadottefonden och distrikten har haft en självrisk. Därtill har även avdelningar bidragit ekonomiskt.

På Flykt är ett rollspel och en åtgärd för att motverka främlingsfientlighet och rasism. Syftet med rollspelet är att motverka främlingsfientlighet och rasism genom att öka ungdomars förståelse för vad en flykting går igenom. Rollspelet har utvecklats av danska pedagogen Sten Cnops Rasmussen och är avsett för ungdomar mellan 13-30 år.

Studien klarlägger hurudan utbildning ungdomarna i projektet behöver för att kunna fungera som instruktörer i rollspel i distriktens ungdomsverksamhet. Studiens uppgift är även att få fram vilken nytta och påverkan rollspelet har bland ungdomar och deras åsikter om att använda rollspel som arbetsmetod i ungdomsverksamheten.

Undersökningen gjordes med hjälp av att de finländska ungdomarna skrev dagböcker om deras erfarenheter och upplevelser under instruktörskursen i Norge, 15-18 september 2011. Utifrån deras behov som framkom i dagböckerna kommer vi att ha en tilläggsutbildning i Åbo kring samma tema med erfarna instruktörer från Norges Röda Kors, Ungdom deltar.

Studien resulterade till att tilläggsutbildning för instruktörerna behövs och ordnas i december 2011. Samtliga deltagare i instruktörsutbildningen i Norge ansåg att rollspelet var en bra metod att motverka rasism och förståelse för flyktingar.

Denna undersökning skall fungera som en handbok för alla som är intresserade av att komma med i FRK:s ungdomsverksamhet samt är intresserade av rollspelet På Flykt som arbetsmetod i ungdomsverksamheten.

The Finnish Red Cross (FRC) have Swedish speaking chapters in Helsinki, Uusimaa, Turunmaa, the Aland Islands and in Ostrobothnia. These chapters have a joint youth project called På Flykt (author’s translation from Swedish: On the Run) that has been financed partly by the Folke Bernadotte Fund, and partly by the chapters themselves as excess. Additional funding for the project has been provided by the units he present study aims to shed light on the FRC, role playing and an give an in-depth analysis of the youth project On the Run. The study is commissioned by the Ostrobothnian chapter of the FRC.

On the Run aims to combat xenophobia and racism and is a role-playing game. The aim of the game is to increase young people’s understanding of what being a refugee is and what they go through. The game was developed by the Danish Pedagogue Steen Cnops Rasmussen and is intended for young people between 13 and 30 years of age.

This study was commissioned in order to ascertain what type of education the participating youths need in order to function as instructors in the On the Run role-playing game within the chapters’ youth activities. The research questions include, from the youth instructors’ perspective: what gains can be found in using the game, what type of influence does the game have on the young people using it, and what are the youths’ opinions and feelings on using the game as a working method within the youth activities/services that the chapters provide.

The research material consisted of journals written by the Finnish youths, participating in the instructor course in Norway on September 15-18, 2011, about their experiences. The research method consisted of an analysis of the participant needs as expressed in the journals. The results showed that the vast majority of participants found that the role-playing game On the Run was felt to be a successful method to counteract racism and to foster for a deeper understanding of the refugees’ situation. However, the participants felt a need for further education by experienced instructors.

The undertaken study resulted in the coordination of a further education course for instructors, undertaken by experienced Norwegian instructors that will be held in Turku, in December of 2011. This final study will be made available to all who are interested in joining the FRC’s youth activities particularly the role-playing game On the Run, and can be utilized as a manual.
