Tiivistelmä
Tämän opinnäytetyön aiheena on tuotantoalustatoiminta esittävän taiteen vapaalla kentällä.
Esittävän taiteen kentälle opinnäytetyön aihe on ajankohtainen.
The topic for this Master’s Thesis is production platform models in the performing arts scene in Finland. This Master’s Thesis is commissioned by Arts Management Helsinki. Arts Management Helsinki operates as a service provider, work community and production platform for independent artists.
Arts Management Helsinki started (in the fall 2019) a preliminary study funded by the Ministry of Education and Culture with the purpose to find out and test the suitability of a European production platform model in the local performing arts field. The aim was not only to find out the suitability of this model, but also to find solutions on how to apply this model or to develop a completely new production platform model for the performing arts field in Finland. From here arose the aim for this Master’s Thesis.
The aim for this Master’s Thesis was to develop a production platform model suitable for the independent field of performing arts in Finland. The approach chosen was action research. The author’s role was central, active and participatory. The development process was carried out in close co- operation with the customer and the work followed co-development principles. The material consisted of discussions and interviews as well as participatory workshops with stakeholders and target groups. Each discussion had an impact on the development process. During the process three different drafts for the model emerged. As a result an operating model and a development proposal for Arts Management Helsinki's production platform operations was created.
This Master’s Thesis is topical for the field of performing arts in Finland. Productional platform is not yet an established concept in the field. It is used to describe new organizational models. The need for new organizations and models has arisen due to the changes in the artistic practices and the financial structures.
This Master’s Thesis demonstrates the situation and the needs of the performing arts independent field and the new production platform model that has emerged. The starting point, the development process and the choices made during it, as well as the final operating model was created as a result of this Master’s Thesis.
