Tiivistelmä
Opinnäytetyön tavoitteena oli koota kaksikielinen termilista psykiatrisen alan sanastosta sekä käsiteltävien viittomien laadunvarmistuksen analyysi. Työn tilaajana toimi Kuurojen Liitto. Sanastotyö julkaistiin verkkosanakirja SignWikissa, jolle myös pohja-aineistona käytetty sanasto tehtiin. Käytetyn pohja-aineiston koko oli 48 termiä. Viittomille tehtiin laadunvarmistus ohjausryhmässä, jonka pilotointi oli osa tätä opinnäytetyötä.
Aineisto kerättiin kolmella ryhmähaastattelulla, jossa haastateltiin psykiatrian alan tulkkauksia tehneitä tai alasta kiinnostuneita tulkkeja erilaisilla kokemustaustoilla. Näistä teemahaastatteluista kerätystä aineistosta, josta saatiin uutta 177 viittomaa. Pohja-aineiston viittomien lisäksi haastatteluista kerätyt viittomat esiteltiin moniammatilliselle ohjaustyöryhmälle. He esittivät suositukset käytettävistä viittomista.
The aim of this thesis was to compile a bilingual descriptive terminology glossary of psychiatry and the analysis of the verification process of the signs in the glossary. This work was commissioned by the Finnish Association of the Deaf. The finished glossary is published in the online dictionary SignWiki. The glossary used as the base material was produced earlier for SignWiki and it consisted of 48 terms. Verification process was done with a group of consultants. Piloting this group was part of the thesis.
The material was collected through three group interviews in which we interviewed interpreters who had experience or interest of interpreting in field of psychiatry. From the material collected from these thematic interviews, new 177 signs were obtained. In addition to the signs from earlier material, the signs collected from the interviews were presented to a multi-professional group of consultants. Consultants made recommendations on the usable signs. Finnish definitions of the terms were compiled and were also verified by a psychiatric expert who worked in the sign guidance group. The final variants, 95 signs, compiled into SignWiki with their Finnish definitions.
Expert collaboration utilized during the glossary project and piloting the group met our expectations. The thesis was necessary and it benefits students and the interpreters working in the field. Linguistic equality through achievable glossary promotes members of the sign language community and professionals working with sign language speakers.
