Tiivistelmä
Tässä opinnäytetyössä tutkin Teatterikoulu ILMI Ö:n toimintaa ja etsin sen kehittämiskohteita. Teatterikoulu ILMI Ö. pyysi tutkimusta heidän toiminnastaan, koska he olivat arviointikartoituksen tarpeessa. Taiteen perusopetusta antavien oppilaitosten kuuluu myös lain mukaan arvioida omaa toimintaansa.
Työn tavoite oli koota suosituksia kehittämiskohteista sekä kehittämisehdotuksia perustuen löydettyihin tutkimustuloksiin. Teattaerikoulu ILMI Ö:tä tutkittiin eri sidosryhmien näkökulmista. Tutkittavat sidosryhmät olivat koulun oppilaat, heidän huoltajansa sekä koulun henkilökunta. Tavoitteena oli laaja ja monipuolinen katsaus siihen, miten eri sidosryhmät kokevat Teatterikoulun eri osa-alueet ja niiden toimivuuden.
Kehittämistutkimus tehtiin tutkimuskyselyiden avulla. Tutkimuskyselyt tehtiin oppilaille heidän ikätasojensa mukaan. Huoltajat saivat kutsun osallistua tutkimukseen. Opettajat ja rehtori vastasivat itsearviointikyselyihin. Osana tutkimusta vertailin Teatterikoulu ILMI Ö:n ja Tikkurilan Teatteri- ja Sirkuskoulua toisiinsa mm. haastatteluilla.
Oppilaiden ja heidän huoltajiensa kyselyt pohjasivat tilaajan asettamiin selvityskohteisiin, itsearviointimalli Virvatuleen ja Teatterikoulu ILMI Ö:n omaan opetussuunnitelmaan sekä sen tavoitteisiin ja arvoihin. Opettajien ja rehtorin kyselyt olivat lähes kokonaan Virvatuli-mallin mukaiset.
Tutkimuksen tuloksista ilmeni pääosin positiivisia näkemyksiä ja mielipiteitä Teatterikoulu ILMI Ö:stä. Kehittämiskohteiksi nousivat mm. opetustilat ja käytettävä tarpeisto. Teatterikoululla on tutkimuksen mukaan tarve kehittää yhteiset yleiset menettelyohjeet opettajille haastaviin opetustilanteisiin. Suosituksena on luoda lukukauden alussa jaettava lukuvuosiopas. Kehittämisehdotuksia saatiin myös koskien Teatteri ILMI Ö:n internetsivuja. Opetussuunnitelma päivitettiin tutkimuksen yhteydessä.
Työn tavoitteet täyttyivät hyvin. Tutkimus vastasi tilaajan toiveisiin ja toi uutta hyödyllistä informaatiota Teatterikoulun kehittämisuuntien määrittämiseksi ja kehittämisen tueksi. Tutkimuksen tulokset vahvistavat olemassa olevaa tutkimustietoa taidekasvatuksen positiivisista vaikutuksista kasvuun ja kehitykseen. In this thesis, I examine different aspects of Theatre school ILMI Ö. and recommend areas for developing the school based on my research. The school requested a study about their activities because of their need for assessment evaluation. Institutions offering basic education in the arts must, according to Finnish law, assess and evaluate their own education.
The objective of the study was to provide suggestions for improving the school, based on the research results. Theatre school ILMI Ö. was studied from the viewpoints of different researched stakeholders, consisting of pupils of the school, their guardians, and the school staff. The objective was to get a wide and multi-faceted understanding into how different stakeholders experience different areas of the Theatre school and how the areas function.
The research was made with the help of research surveys which were designed for the pupils based on their age groups. The guardians received invitations to participate in the research. The teachers and the principal answered self-evaluation questionnaires. Benchmarking between Theatre school ILMI Ö. and Theatre and Circus school of Tikkurila was also a part of the research.
The research surveys for the pupils and their guardians were based on the research area wishes of the school, Virvatuli self-evaluation model and the curriculum of Theatre school ILMI Ö and its goals and values. The surveys of the teachers and the principal were almost identical to the Virvatuli model.
The results of the research revealed mostly positive views and opinions of Theatre school ILMI Ö. Areas to develop included the classrooms and properties used. One important finding is that the Theatre school should to create general instructions for conduct for teacher's for challenging teaching situations. Another recommendation was to create a school year guidebook, to be distributed at the beginning of the first term. Recommendations for their website were also made. The curriculum was updated during the research process.
The objectives of the study were reached, providing new and useful information to support and help define the directions for upcoming development projects. The results strengthened the existing researched information about the positive impacts of art education on growth and human development.
