Tiivistelmä
This thesis explores sustainable outdoor adventure tourism, focusing on packrafting as a model activity within protected areas. By developing a packrafting experience in Finland’s Oulanka National Park, the study examines the integration of sustainable principles in outdoor education and sustainable tourism. The thesis combines theoretical insights and practical applications to create a framework incorporating sustainable principles and engaging nature experiences. For my thesis, I developed a packrafting experience in Oulanka National Park, which allowed me to integrate sustainable tourism practices and discover Finland’s National commitment to conservation. This study explores how conservation areas are important in preserving the natural heritage while supporting sustainable tourism. Also, the thesis explores how river-based activities like packrafting can promote “slow” travel and contribute to the broader goals of sustainable tourism.
