Abstract

TIIVISTELMÄ

Salo, Karri & Ahonen, Markku. Apua oikein annettuna. Tämä toiminnallinen opinnäytetyö käsittelee ensiapua. Työmme tavoitteena oli järjestää ensiapukertausta mielenterveysasumisyksikkö Viertokodin henkilökunnalle. Ensiapukertaukseen osallistuneet saivat päivitettyä tietoa siitä, miten toimia, jos asumisyksikössä joku saa sairaskohtauksen tai tapahtuu tapaturma. Osallistujat pääsivät teorian kertauksen lisäksi harjoittelemaan ensiaputaitojaan käytännössä. Viertokoti on mielenterveyskuntoutujien asumisyksikkö, jossa henkilökunta on paikalla ympäri vuorokauden. Oman haasteensa potilaan tilanarviointiin tuovat nimenomaan mielenterveyden ongelmiin liittyvät monimuotoiset harhat. Asukkaat yksikössä ovat ikääntyneitä mielenterveyskuntoutujia. Käsittelimme aiheita, joita henkilökunta oli saanut itse toivoa. Tämän lisäksi kä-sittelimme aiheita, jotka liittyivät hätäensiapuun. Yhtenä tavoitteenamme oli herättää henkilökunnan mielenkiinto ensiavun harjoitteluun ja ensiapukurssien käymiseen. Lisäksi henkilökunta saa käyttöönsä materiaalin, jota tässä opinnäytetyössä käsitellään. Näin myös jatkossa henkilökunnalla on mahdollista tutustua itsenäisesti ensiapumateriaaliin ja kerrata asioita esimerkiksi uusien työntekijöiden kanssa. Keräsimme ensiapukertaukseen osallistuneilta palautetta sekä teoriaosuudesta että käytännön harjoitteista. Palautteista saimme selville, että läpi käydyt asiat olivat kaikille entuudestaan tuttuja. Monet kuitenkin kokivat kertauksen tulleen hyvänä asiana ja toivoivatkin asioita käytävän useammin läpi. Käytännön har-joitteet olivat henkilökunnan mieleen, ja näitä toivottiin myös lisää. Sairaanhoidon opiskelijoina saimme arvokasta esiintymis- ja kouluttamisvarmuutta tulevaa työtämme varten. Asiasanat: Ensiapu, mielenterveys, koulutus

ABSTRACT Salo, Karri & Ahonen, Markku. Apua oikein annettuna. Ohjeistus ensiavusta Viertokodin työntekijöille The subject of this thesis is a practical project pertaining to first aid. The purpose of the project was to organise a first aid refresher training for the staff of Viertokoti, a housing unit for mental health patients. The participants of the refresher training received up-to-date information on how to act if someone experiences a bout of illness or an accident at the housing unit. In addition to theoretical training, the participants had a chance to practice their first aid skills. Viertokoti is a housing unit for rehabilitation of mental health patients. The staff is present at the unit 24 hours a day. When assessing the condition of a patient, it is a challenge to consider the complicated delusions related to their mental health problems. The patients living in the unit are aging mental health patients. The training focused on the areas the staff had requested as well as areas related to first aid. One goal was to revoke the staff's interest in practicing their first aid skills and participating in a first aid course. The staff will also receive the materials used in this thesis. This way the staff will have the opportunity to familiarise themselves with first aid materials and have refresher sessions for example with new employees in the future. We collected feedback from the participants of the first aid training on both the theoretical and the practical half of the training. The feedback revealed that all participants were already familiar with the areas discussed. However, many of them considered the refresher training as a positive experience and hoped to have a refresher more frequently in the future. The staff appreciated the practical training and expressed a wish to have more of it. As nursing students we gained confidence in performing and training which will be a valuable asset in our future work.
