Tutkimus on työelämälähtöinen. Icehearts ry toivoi tutkimusta järjestön kasvattajien vanhempien ja perheiden kanssa työskentelyn kehittämiseksi. Icehearts ry:n toiminta keskittyy lasten varhaiseen tukemiseen ja syrjäytymisen ehkäisyyn. Sosiaalihuoltolain mukaisia palveluita tarjoavan järjestön on profiloiduttava aikaisempaa ammattimaisemmaksi. Tutkimuksessa on käytetty kahta aineistoa: Iceheartsin joukkueidensa lasten vanhemmille syksyllä 2015 tehtyä tyytyväisyyskyselyä ja vanhempien kyselyn aineiston pohjalta tehtyä kyselyä kasvattajille keväällä 2017. Kyselyt tehtiin nettikyselyinä, joihin vastasi 94 vanhempaa/huoltajaa ja 23 kasvattajaa.

Vanhemmille tehdyn kyselyn tuloksia käytettiin tutkimuksessa niiltä osin kuin ne liittyivät perheiden kanssa työskentelyyn ja kasvattajiin. Kasvattajien kysely sisälsi kysymyksiä, joilla kartoitettiin miten kasvattajien työskentely vastaa vanhempien tarpeisiin ja toiveisiin. Tutkimusaineisto analysoitiin tutkimuksen viitekehyksen mukaisesti.

Tulokset osoittivat vanhempien olevan pääsääntöisesti tyytyväisiä kasvattajan toimintaan. Vanhemmat toivoivat kasvattajilta ja toiminnalta mm. yksilöllistä tukea perheille, tiedottamisen täsmentämistä, tukea viranomaisyhteistyöhön sekä vanhempien mahdollisuutta verkostoitua. Kasvattajat tukevat perheitä ja vanhempia heidän ilmaisemiensa tarpeiden mukaan, poikkeuksena tilanteet joissa kasvattajan on puututtava vanhempien toimintaan välittömästi lapsen edun turvaamiseksi. Lapseen liittyvistä asioista puhuminen oli kasvattajille helpompaa kuin vanhempien ongelmien puheeksi ottaminen. Kasvattajat kokivat yhteisistä tapahtumista olevan hyötyä kasvattajan ja vanhemman väliselle suhteelle. Vanhempien keskinäistä verkostoitumista kasvattajat pitivät tärkeänä, mutta yllättävän vähäisenä.

Tulosten perusteella esitetään perheiden kanssa tehtävän työn tueksi toista työntekijää joukkueisiin, joilla olisi kokemusta perheiden kanssa työskentelystä. Toimintamalli, jossa kasvattaja ja vanhemmat säännöllisesti yhdessä arvioivat perheen tilannetta ja tuen tarvetta mahdollistaisi perheiden tasapuolisen palvelun saamisen ja vähentäisi kriisityön määrää. Kasvattajilla tulee tarjota koulutusta perheiden tuen tarpeiden arvioimisesta sekä tietoa erilaisista perheiden palveluista ja niihin ohjaamisesta.

This research is work oriented. The Icehearts wanted a survey to develop the work between the organizations educators, parents and families. The Icehearts organizations activities focus on early support for children and the prevention of exclusion. The organization needs to profile itself more professional because of the law of social welfare. In this research two different materials have been used: the satisfaction survey, made for the parents of Icehearts teams in autumn 2015 and the survey made for educators in spring 2017 based on parents’ survey results. These surveys were made in the internet. Answers from 94 parents and 23 educators were received.

The results of the satisfaction survey for parents were used in research in those parts as they relate to working with parents and families and educators. Educators’ survey contained questions that mapped how the educators’ work responses to the needs and hopes of the parents. The research material was analyzed in accordance with the frame of reference.

The results showed that parents were mainly satisfied with the educators’ work. Parents hoped more individual support for families, clarifying the information, support for cooperation with authorities and parents and possibilities to network with other parents. Educators support families and parents according to their needs. The exception of situations in which they have to intervene in the activities of parents immediately in order to safeguard the benefit of the child. The educators felt that it is easier to talk of children matters than address the problems of the parents. The educators felt that joint events are useful for the liaison between the educator and the parent. The parents’ network was considered important by the educators, but surprisingly insignificant.

On the basis of the results another educator in teams is recommended, who has experience working with families. An operation model where educators and parents regularly evaluate the situation of the families and the need of support would allow families to receive a fair service and reduce the amount of crisis interventions. Educators should be provided education in how to evaluate the needs of family support as well as information on various family services and their guidance.
