Opinnäytetyöni aiheena on lastensuojelun perhetyön prosessin kehittäminen Auerkulman perhetukiyksikössä, Järvenpäässä. Kehittäminen kohdistui prosessin alkuun, johon suunniteltiin lastensuojelun perhetyön prosessin aloittava kartoitusvaihe. Kehittämisen tarkoituksena oli muokata perhetyön aloitusvaihetta sellaiseksi, että sekä perheessä olevat voimavarat että lapsen elämäntilanteeseen liittyvät huolenaiheet tulevat entistä paremmin näkyviksi ja niitä päästään perheen kanssa käsittelemään.

Kehittämällä perhetyön aloitusvaihetta pyrittiin ottamaan entistä paremmin huomioon asiakkuuteen tulevan lapsen ja hänen perheensä kokemukset omasta elämäntilanteesta. Tavoitteena oli myös saada koko perhe sitoutumaan yhdessä sovittuun, tavoitteelliseen työskentelyyn ja kokemaan itsensä osalliseksi elämäntilannettaan koskevassa muutosprosessissa. Kehittämisen tavoitteena olivat myös perhetyön prosessin läpinäkyvyys, perheiden voimaantuminen ja lasten hyvinvoinnin lisääntyminen.

Opinnäytetyö toteutettiin toimintatutkimuksena. Tutkimustehtävänä oli selvittää miten perheiden osallisuus ja voimavarojen vahvistaminen mahdollistuu perhetyön aloitusvaiheessa. Tutkimusaineisto koostui kehittämisen aikana työyhteisössä tehdystä reflektoinnista ja havainnoista sekä työntekijöiden ryhmähaastattelusta. Hankkeesta saadut kokemukset analysoitiin teorialähtöisesti peilaamalla niitä tutkimuksen tavoitteisiin ja perhetyön tutkimustietoon. Tutkimuksen viitekehyksenä oli eettinen ja arvostava työote.

Tutkimus osoitti, että kartoitustyöskentelyn avulla saatiin perheenjäsenten omat kokemukset ja toiveet esille. Myös perheen voimavarat ja huolet lapsen elämäntilanteesta tulivat näkyviksi, ja perheiden osallisuus lastensuojelun perhetyön prosessissa lisääntyi. Tutkimuksen myötä prosessi selkeytyi ja tuli entistä läpinäkyvämmäksi, lisäksi työn arvopohja vahvistui työyhteisön yhteisten arvokeskustelujen myötä.

The subject of my study was one project in Family Support Centre in Järvenpää, where the family work methods concerning child welfare were planned in a new way and put them in the practice. The purpose of that project was to revise the first period of the family work. The aim of the project was to take into consideration to resources of the family members. Besides that, it was very important that the concerns about the children were mentioned and could be deal with the parents.

By revising the first period of the family work we were achieving that we could take the experiences and opinions of the family members into consideration and get those more easily to participate and to contract to family work. The aims of the project were also to revise the family work process more transparent, to give more possibilities to the families to get empowerment and to increase children’s health and welfare.

This study was done as an action research. The research material was gathered in the Family Support Centre and it included the material of discussion and reflection, the material of observation and one interview of the working group. The experiences and opinions gotten from the project were analysed by crosschecking them with the intention of the study and the theory and research of the family work. The ethical and customer respect way of handling the families’ issues made up the context of this study.

The study indicated that the experiences and expectations of the family members could be brought up for discussion. Also the recourses of the families and the concerns about the children become obvious and the families became more participate of the family work. The process of the child welfare family work cleared up, and the codes of ethics became more important for the family workers by shared discussion.
