Tiivistelmä
Tämän opinnäytetyön tarkoituksena on kartoittaa asiakkaiden kokemuksia kuntouttavasta työtoiminnasta Vantaalla ja mitata kuntouttavan työtoiminnan vaikutuksia asiakkaiden elämään laadullista ja määrällistä tutkimusta hyödyntäen. Tiedonkeruumenetelminä olivat haastattelu ja kyselylomake.
Opinnäytetyö on kaksiosainen, jossa ensimmäisessä osassa haastateltiin viittä kuntouttavan työtoiminnan asiakasta. Haastattelujen pohjalta tehtiin kyselylomake, johon vastasi 92 asiakasta.
The focus of this research was to study the experiences of clients who are in rehabilitative work in Vantaa, Finland. The goal was to study and measure the impact rehabilitative work has had on clients’ lives, using qualitative, and quantitative research. Interviews and a questionnaire were the data collecting methods used in this research.
The research was conducted in two parts. First five clients were interviewed. Based on these interviews, a questionnaire was formed, and 92 clients answered the questionnaire. All clients that participated in the research were at rehabilitative work in coaching houses around the city of Vantaa.
The data gathered from the interviews was analysed using thematic analysis. The data gathered from the questionnaire was analysed partly using Spss software, and partly using thematic analysis.
The theoretic background of this research derived from the concepts of empowerment and participation. The results were categorised based on themes relating to clients’ experiences that came from the data.
In the results, there were more positives than negatives found in relation to the experiences people had in rehabilitative work. The positive experiences were mostly related to improvements in the client’s daily rhythm and social benefits. The results of the study suggest that long-term unemployed people often suffer from multiple issues that hamper their daily lives. Rehabilitative work can provide benefits to people who are marginalized, have multiple problems in life and are in danger of being socially excluded from the society. Clients in rehabilitative work in Vantaa generally feel that rehabilitative work is organized in a customer-oriented way.
The research suggests that there should be more co-operation between the social services and employment services, and that there should be more options in the intermediate labour market for people who can only work part- time.
