Tiivistelmä
Munuaistaudit ovat Suomessa yleisiä ja määrä kasvaa tasaisesti. Pitkäaikainen ja vakava sairastuminen vaikuttaa sairastuneen henkilön lisäksi myös hänen omaisiinsa. Tämä herättää usein huolta, surua, pelkoa sekä riittämättömyyden tunnetta omaisessa. Se voi aiheuttaa myös monenlaisia haasteita omaisen jaksamiselle sekä hyvinvoinnille. Jatkuva huoli läheisestä voi aiheuttaa ihmisessä stressiä, joka voi pitkittyessä aiheuttaa erilaisia
fyysisiä ja psyykkisiä oireita.
Tutkimuspainotteisen opinnäytetyömme tarkoituksena oli selvittää dialyysihoidossa olevan henkilön omaisen jaksamista nyt ja tulevaisuudessa, millaisia jaksamista tukevia tekijöitä hänellä on, sekä millaista tukea hän on saanut ja millaista tukea hän kokee tarvitsevansa. Aineistonkeruumenetelmänä käytettiin Webropol- kyselylomaketta, jonka
avulla toimme omaisten kokemuksia esiin. Vertasimme kyselyn tuloksia aiemmin samasta aiheesta tehtyihin tutkimuksiin.
Kyselylomakkeen tulosten mukaan omaisten jaksaminen oli keskitasoa, mediaani 6 asteikolla 0–10. Tästä huolimatta riski henkiselle kuormitukselle on suuri, sillä omaiset kokivat negatiivisia tunteita, jopa pelkoa läheisen dialyysihoitoon liittyen. Tulosten mukaan dialyysihoito vaikutti sairastavan ihmisen omaisiin monella eri elämän osa-alueella. Omaisilla oli selkeää tuen ja tiedon tarvetta. Myös aiemmin samasta aiheesta tehdyt tutkimukset vahvistivat tätä tulosta. Vaikka samankaltaisia tuloksia on saatu eri tutkimuksista yli kahdenkymmenenvuoden takaa aina tähän päivään asti, ei asiassa ole tapahtunut muutoksia.
Opinnäytetyön tavoitteena on lisätä tietoa ja ymmärrystä dialyysihoidosta ja sen vaikutuksesta sairastavan henkilön omaiseen. Tähän opinnäytetyöhön kerättyä tietoa ja tutkimustuloksia voidaan hyödyntää jatkossa esimerkiksi omaisille suunnatun oppaan luomisessa. Valmis opinnäytetyö on tarkoitus esittää Munuais- ja maksaliiton järjestämässä tapahtumassa, sekä työstä tulee tieto liiton valtakunnalliseen uutiskirjeeseen. Kidney diseases are common in Finland and the number is growing steadily. A long-term and serious illness affects not only the affected person but also his or her relatives. This often arouses concern, sadness, fear, and a feeling of inadequacy in the relative. It can also pose a variety of to the coping and the wellbeing of the relatives. A constant concern for a loved one can cause stress in a person, which can inflict a variety of physical and mental symptoms if prolonged.
The purpose of our thesis was to find out what kind of factors support the coping of a person in dialysis treatment now and in the future, what kind of support they have received and what kind of support they feel or they need. The data collection method used was a Webropol questionnaire, which is used to present the experiences of relatives. The data and the results were compared the results of the survey with previous research on the same topic.
Based on the responses to the questionnaire, the thesis found out that the coping of the relatives was medium level, with a median of 6 on a scale of 0–10. Nevertheless, the risk of mental strain is high, as relatives experienced negative emotions, even fear associated with dialysis treatment of a loved one. The study also found out that a dialysis treatment affects person undergoing the dialysis relatives in many different areas of life. It can be stated that there is a clear need for support and information for relatives. The previous studies on the same subject have also confirmed this result. Although similar results have been obtained from various studies more than twenty years ago, no change has taken place.
The aim of the thesis was to increase knowledge and understanding of dialysis treatment and its effect on a relative 's relative. The information and research results collected for this thesis can be utilized in the future, for example, in the creation of a guide for relatives. The completed thesis is to be presented at an event organized by the Kidney and Liver Association, and the work will be announced in the association's national newsletter.
