Polvesta polveen: hengellisen perinnön äärellä – yhteinen tarinakokoelmaprojekti nuorten ja hengellisten isovanhempien kanssa

Abstract

Tämän opinnäytetyön tarkoituksena oli koota tarinakokoelma hengellisten isovanhempien haastattelujen pohjalta yhdessä Suomen evankelis-luterilaisen opiskelija- ja koululaislähetyksen eli OPKO:n nuorten kanssa edistäen näin myös nuorten osallisuutta. Opinnäytetyön tavoite oli kehittää sukupolvien välistä yhteyttä OPKO:n nuorisotyössä.

Nuorten osallisuuden mahdollistamiseksi OPKO:n nuortenillassa toteutettiin työskentely, jossa nuoret ideoivat haastattelukysymyksiä hengellisille isovanhemmille. Työskentelyssä hyödynnettiin ryhmäkeskustelun ja elokuvatyöskentelyn menetelmiä. Nuortenillassa katsottiin otteita elokuvasta War Room, jonka pohjalta ohjattiin hengellistä perintöä ja sukupolvien välistä yhteyttä käsittelevä ryhmäkeskustelu. Keskustelun jälkeen nuoret kirjoittivat papereille kysymyksiä ja rohkaisuja hengellisille isovanhemmille.

Opinnäytetyössä haastateltiin kolmea hengellistä isovanhempaa. Haastattelutilanteissa oli mukana OPKO:n nuoria. Haastatteluissa hyödynnettiin menetelmänä teemahaastattelua eli puolistrukturoitua haastattelua. Teemahaastattelu mahdollisti kerronnallisen menetelmän hyödyntämisen.

Tarinakokoelma koottiin PDF-tiedostoksi, joka sisältää nuorten ideoimat kysymykset hengellisille isovanhemmille sekä isovanhempien vastauksia nuorten kysymyksiin oman elämänsä kertomusten muodossa. Tarinakokoelmia voidaan jakaa OPKO:n nuorisotyön yhteydessä mukana oleville nuorille ja näin välittää hengellisten isovanhempien jakamaa hengellistä perintöä eteenpäin.

Tarinakokoelmaa olisi mahdollista laajentaa haastattelemalla muitakin hengellisiä isovanhempia, jotka tahtovat välittää omaa hengellistä perintöään eteenpäin. Valmiiden haastattelujen pohjalta olisi mahdollista kerätä kompakti haastattelumateriaali, jota voisi tarjota esimerkiksi seurakunnille työvälineeksi sukupolvien välisen yhteyden vahvistamiseksi.

The purpose of this thesis was to compile a collection of stories based on interviews of spiritual grandparents together with the youth of the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students Finland (IFES Finland) and thus to increase the inclusion of the youth. The aim of the thesis was to develop the intergenerational connection in the youth work of IFES Finland.

To enable the inclusion of the youth, a workshop was held at IFES Finland’s Youth Night, where the youth came up with interview questions for spiritual grandparents. The method of group discussion was used in the workshop alongside the use of movie clips to ignite discussion. During the Youth Night, scenes from the film War Room were screened and used as a basis for a group discussion on the topics of spiritual heritage and intergenerational connection. After the discussion, the youth wrote down questions and encouragement for the spiritual grandparents.

Three spiritual grandparents were interviewed for the thesis. IFES Finland’s youth participated in the interviews. The interviews were conducted using a thematic interview method i.e. a semi-structured interview method. The thematic interview enabled the use of a narrative method.

The collection of stories was compiled into a PDF file which contains the youth’s questions for spiritual grandparents, as well as the grandparents' answers to the youth’s questions in the form of stories from their own lives. The story collections can be distributed to the youth involved in IFES Finland’s youth work, thus passing on the spiritual heritage shared by spiritual grandparents.

The story collection could be expanded by interviewing other spiritual grandparents who want to pass on their spiritual heritage. On the basis of the completed interviews, it would be possible to collect a compact interview material that could be offered, for example, to congregations as a tool to strengthen the intergenerational connection.
