Tiivistelmä
This bachelor's thesis was conducted within the DEMVE project at Novia University of Applied Sciences in Vaasa. It focuses on the IEC 61850 standard, which aims to facilitate seamless communication between relay units and substations.
The practical part of the thesis was carried out at Technobothnia's DEMVE laboratory in Vaasa. It aimed to establish a new configuration for a Siemens SIPROTEC 5 overcurrent protection 7SJ85 relay by DIGSI 5.
The thesis delivered a step-by-step guide on configuring Siemens 7SJ85 relays in DIGSI 5 and establishing a working connection between the relay and the ABB COM600 unit. The DEMVE laboratory could use the guidebook to further instruction and learning.
It is recommended that in the future, the relay be configured using IEC 61850 Edition 2 and a higher firmware version to facilitate data exchange across substations, distributed busbar setup, and cybersecurity.
