The aim of the thesis was to develop and evaluate an educational video resource for Sosped volunteers. The video hoped to fill a gap in their training toolkit regarding content addressing the influence of digital media on adolescent gambling behaviour, this was motivated by a demand of Sosped to adapt its training materials to align with the evolving digital environment.
The development of the video involved literature review, surveys posted within a digital gambling support forum, and video production. The production of the video included storyboarding, scripting, and editing. Feedback from volunteers and professionals within Sosped was used to evaluate the effectiveness of the video.
The results of the thesis, gathered from the feedback surveys, showcased that the video successfully managed to increase the volunteers’ awareness of the topic. The video was deemed as engaging, and Sosped themselves viewed it as a useful future tool for their training program.
In conclusion, the achieved product and its evaluation suggest that the video effectively enhances volunteers’ understanding of the influence of digital media on adolescent gambling behaviour, serving as a valuable tool. However, further research is needed to determine whether this will lead into improvements in supporting youth in practice.
