Teknologian käytön haitat vanhemman ja lapsen välisessä vuorovaikutuksessa: video teknohäiriön vaikutuksesta vanhemmuuteen sitoutumiseen

Kehittämispainotteisessa opinnäytetyössä tehtiin opasvideo, jonka avulla tuetaan pienten lasten vanhempia vanhemmuuteen sitoutumisessa opastamalla heitä välttämään teknohäiriötä (”technoference”) eli älylaitteiden käyttöä lasten kanssa vietettynä aikana. Opasvideolla lisätään vanhempien tietoisuutta siitä, kuinka pienen lapsen kehityksen kannalta on oleellista, että häntä hoivaavat henkilöt eivät sivuuta lasta viettäessään aikaa hänen kanssaan. Opasvideo on osa One Way Mission ry:n Rakentavaa vanhemmuutta TV-sarjaa, joka perustuu Vanhemmuuden palikat -menetelmään ja tukee vanhempia heidän kasvatustehtävässään.

Opasvideo toteutettiin nelivaiheisena prosessina, joka alkoi kehittämistarpeen löytämisellä edeten opasvideon suunnitteluun ja toteutukseen. Videon käsikirjoitusta ja valmista tuotosta arvioitiin kahdessa osassa kolmen sosiaali- ja kirkon alan työntekijän toimesta. Asiantuntijat tutustuivat ensin videon käsikirjoitukseen ja antoivat palautetta avoimia kysymyksiä sisältävällä kysymyslomakkeella. Vastaajilta kysyttiin myös näkemystä teknohäiriöilmiön esiintyvyydestä heidän työtehtävissään. Käsikirjoitusta korjattiin saadun palautteen pohjalta ja siitä koostettiin yhteistyökumppani One Way Mission Ry:n ja opiskelijoiden yhteistyönä video. Samat asiantuntijat katsoivat valmiin videon ja antoivat palautetta avoimia kysymyksiä sisältävällä lomakkeella.

Kehittämistyön tuloksena syntynyt opasvideo kertoo vanhemmille, miten heidän älylaitteiden käyttönsä voi haitata alle 2-vuotiaan lapsen kasvu- ja kehitysprosessia. Opinnäytetyön kirjallinen raportti kuvaa opasvideon toteuttamisvaiheet, teoriakatsauksen sekä käsikirjoituksesta ja videosta palautetta antaneiden kommentit. Saatu palaute ilmentää, että opasvideon sisältöön oltiin pääosin tyytyväisiä. Videon informatiivinen sisältö sai kiitosta, mutta aiheen käsittelyyn kaivattiin myös selkeämpää koontia videon loppuun kaikista lapsen kehityksen osa-alueista, joihin vanhempien älylaitteiden käyttö voi vaikuttaa.

The aim of this thesis was to develop an informative video for parents with young children which provides support to their commitment to parenthood via guiding parents to avoid technoference i.e. the usage of smart technology during the time that parents spend with their children. The informative video aims to increase parents’ understanding about how essential it is to children that the people who take care of them are not ignoring them. The informative video will be included to the organisation One Way Mission’s TV series Rakentavaa vanhemmuutta which is based on the method Vanhemmuuden palikat and which aims to support parents in their upbringing tasks.

The informative video was developed during the four-phased process which began with the discovering of the need for the development work, by the planning and creation of the informative video. The result of the thesis was reviewed by three professionals in social and diaconal work field twice. Firstly the professionals were given the manuscript of the video along with a survey with open ended questions regarding the content and quality of the manuscript. The professionals were also asked to provide their opinion about whether they have witnessed technoference in their work. After the feedback the video was complied by students and the organisation One Way Mission ry. - Registered Association. and the finished video was given to the same professionals for a review with open ended questions.

At a result of the development work, the informative video was made. It informs parents with less than 2 year old children about the development and growing of young children and tells how the parents’ use of smart technology can disturb this growing and development. A report about the thesis was also written, and it describes how the video was made and it offers a theoretical background and the feedback from professionals. The given feedback shows that the video was quite well received. The informative content of it was praised, but at the end of the video a summarization about the different areas of children’s development which are affected by the parents’ use of smart technology was missed about.
