Tiivistelmä
The author explores via artistic practice the vantage point of planet. The author takes inspiration from when arts and humanities were a starting point for developing theories and solutions for complex questions, such as finding universal unity. The research questions explored are:
How to envision a move away from a human vantage point, the human experience? Can\may we imagine planets’ vantage point? What elements may build an alternative frame?
What elements could describe the onset of a period of time describing the transition from human to planet central, the golden spike for the Planetocene? Thus what elements could describe a lower metaphysical boundary?
The author explores these themes in a move away from the Anthropocene, where the human perspective is the focal point, and explores a break away from anthropocentric boundaries. To narrow the artistic research, focus was on the two dimensions of human subjectivity and planetary environment, and less on social relations.
The artistic process is described and philosophical elements such as phenomenology, hermeneutics and a priori knowing, loosely interpreted as intuitive wisdom, are explored through the shaping of a heavenly body without the aim of resolution. Rooted in the authors’ conflicting experience with precognition, the process started from feeling the artistic research questions, and exploring emerging themes and clues, where fact finding towards a definable outcome was discarded as aim as such. It is a continuous process. A deeply personal path towards exploring artistic possibilities to experience other and what signs and signals could be relevant there.
