Tiivistelmä
This thesis is project based and is focused on creating an online web application using the open-source web framework, Django. The project object was to take a pre-existing web application then develop it into a reusable fully functional product, which utilises the latest technologies available on the market. The research covers the advantages and disadvantages of using Django and compares it to other available web frameworks. The objective of the investigation was to provide San Francisco Oy with justification for using this particular web framework.
The thesis project was commissioned by the owner of the Dimera Application, San Francisco Oy, which is a digital media company based in Helsinki. Dimera is an abbreviation of Digital Media Ranker, and its creation was the primary intention of this venture.
This thesis gives a descriptive analysis of what the Dimera team achieved during the duration of this project. It covers the implementation of the app and the tools and methods that were used to arrive at the final conclusion. The result of this project was the deliverance of the Dimera application, along with guidance on how to develop and deliver a fully functional Di- mera website using the Django framework.
