Tiivistelmä
The final objective of this work is to provide the commissioner Kainuun Etu Oy information for Invest In Kainuu project’s marketing purposes. The aim of that marketing is to attract more inward investment into Kainuu region across various industries. More specifically the information gained from this research will be used to attract ICT and technology-based companies to invest into Kainuu region.
The point of view in this research is the resource-based view of the company which considers that right kind of resources can bring sustainable competitive advantages for the company. The resource or the combination of the resources should be valuable, rare, difficult to imitate and difficult to substitute in order to create sustainable competitive advantage for the company.
The main findings are the companies involved in this research experience a good combination of tangible and intangible resources and organizational capabilities and some of these resources are attached to the location in Kainuu region. Anyhow the role of intangible resources and organizational capabilities and excellence is considerably more important in creating sustainable competitive advantages for these companies than the tangible resources. The meaning of the right kind of people and synergy in the company was seen as one of the most important resource.
