Mobile Device Use in Student Learning Process : Supporting Student Learning Process with Use of Mobile Devices

Abstract

Many students use mobile devices both in their free time and during school. Mobile devices have to potential to be used for learning purposes as well as for personal use. The purpose of this thesis is to examine the ways in which students utilise mobile devices and the services Lahti University of Applied Sciences provide and identify potential ways in which mobile devices can be used to support the learning process of students. The data used in this thesis was collected using surveys which were created with questions tailored to identify how Lahti UAS students use their mobile devices, what their feedback is about the services they use, with an emphasis on Reppu and their ideas for how to utilize mobile devices in the future. The results show that some students are already using mobile devices to support their learning to an extent and also identified some potential ways to use mobile devices to further support the learning process of students.
