Vankien puolisoille suunnatun vertaistukiryhmän kokemuksia verkkoryhmän toimivuudesta

Abstract

Opinnäytetyön tavoitteena oli tuottaa Kriminaalihuollon tukisäätiölle tietoa siitä, mitä kokemuksia vankien puolisoilla oli vertaistukiryhmästä ja sen toiminnasta ja miten toimintaa voisi entisestään kehittää paremmaksi.

Opinnäytetyön aiheena oli vankien puolisoille suunnatun vertaistukiryhmän kokemukset verkko-ryhmän toimivuudesta. Ryhmä oli tarkoitettu vankilassa olevien henkilöiden puolisoille ikään, sukupuoleen tai asuinpaikkaan katsomatta. Ryhmä toimi verkossa ja kukin osallistuja sai osallistua keskusteluun itselle sopivaan ajankohtaan ja anonyymisti. Kvantitatiivinen tutkimus toteutettiin kyselyn avulla, johon vastasivat ryhmään osallistuneet vankien puolisot. Vastauksista tein yhteenvedon. Kysely teetettiin ryhmän loppupuolella. Ryhmä toimi ajalla 16.10.2017 - 1.12.2017. Teo-reettisena viitekehyksenä toimi ryhmä ja sen toiminta, ja se kuinka ryhmä voi olla hyvä tapa työskennellä.

Kyselyssä kysyttiin muun muassa odotukset ja toiveet ennen ryhmän alkua ja toteutuivatko nämä odotukset sekä kehitysehdotuksia. Tutkimuksen tulos oli se, että osallistujat olivat tyytyväisiä ryhmän toimintaan ja vain pari kehityskohtaa tuli ilmi heidän palautteistaan. Toki osallistujia oli vain yhdeksän ja vastaajia kuusi, joten isommalla ryhmällä olisivat tulokset olleet monipuolisempia. Kehitysehdotuksia tuli siitä, että ryhmää voisi mainostaa paremmin ja ehkä kehittää yksityisen keskustelun mahdollisuuden yleisen keskustelun ohelle.

The purpose of the thesis was to provide information to the commissioner, the Finnish Foundation for supporting ex-offenders, about the issues that worked well and developmental areas of the group. The group, meant for those with spouses in prison, was internet-based with voluntary par-ticipation, total anonymity and no restrictions regarding age, gender or living area. Quantitative research was conducted as a questionnaire sent to the spouses of convicted criminals who participated in the group between 16.10.2017 to 1.12.2017. A summary was then created based on the responses. The theoretical basis of the thesis is set in group working.

The questionnaire addressed, for example, the expectations and hopes the participants had before starting the group and how the expectations and hopes were met at the end. Improvement suggestions were also asked for at the end of the questionnaire. The results of the questionnaire indicated that the participants were very happy with the group. Only a few development suggestions arose. However, it should be taken into consideration that there were only nine participants from which only six answered the questionnaire. If more participants would have participated then the results might have been more versatile. The development ideas were that the group could be promoted a bit more and the other idea was to include private conversation alongside the general discussion
