Kysely toteutettiin anonyymisti.
Tutkimuksen tulokset osoittivat, että Kehitysvammatuki 57 ry:n vapaaehtoistyöntekijöiden motivaation taso on pääosin hyvä. Vähemmän motivoituneet vapaaehtoiset kuitenkin toivoivat parempaa toiminnan johtamista, kokivat saavansa liian vähän kiitosta sekä palautetta työstään eivätkä olleet tarpeeksi tietoisia toiminnan tavoitteista ja päämääristä. Kehityskohteiksi nousivat toiminnan johtamiseen panostaminen, toiminnasta perehdyttämisen lisääminen, säännöllinen palautteen antaminen sekä kiitoksen lisääminen. Jatkotoimenpiteeksi ehdotettiin tutkimuksen toistamista noin vuoden kuluttua. The purpose of this thesis was to examine the status of the motivation of the volunteer workers of Kehitysvammatuki 57 ry who participate in the Friend programme. The goal of the thesis was to collect information from the volunteers of Kehitysvammatuki 57 ry about what motivates them and what keeps them engaged. The results of the thesis will be utilized in the ideation of the actions to be taken in elevating the motivation of the volunteers.
The theoretical framework of this thesis covers topics such as volunteering in general, motivation viewed through common motivational theories and leadership and rewarding from the viewpoint of motivation. The theoretical framework is based on literature, scientific articles and internet resources about the topic.
The thesis was carried out between April 2018 and January 2019. The research was executed using quantitative research methods, but qualitative methods were also used in the analysis of the results of the open questions. The research material was gathered, using a structured e-form, from the current volunteers participating in the Friend programme of Kehitysvammatuki 57 ry. The team answering the questions consisted of 109 volunteers. The inquiry produced 27 completed e-forms which covered 24,8 % of all the volunteers. The inquiry was executed anonymously.
The research results showed that the level of the motivation of the volunteers of Kehitysvammatuki 57 ry is mainly good. However, the less motivated volunteers wished for better leadership, felt like they did not receive sufficient acknowledgement or sufficient feedback and were not appropriately aware about the aspirations and goals of their work. Investing in the leadership of the volunteers, adding more volunteer orientation, giving out regular feedback and thanking the volunteers more often rose as areas of development from the research results. Repeating the research after about a year was suggested as a follow-up procedure.
