Dokumenttielokuva päihderiippuvaisten kokemusten välittäjänä päihdehoitotyön opetuksessa

Abstract

Erityisesti terveydenhuollon somatiikan yksiköissä on havaittavissa asenneongelmia päihderiippuvaisia kohtaan. Asenteiden muuttaminen ei ole yksinkertaista, mutta opetuksella ja sen tarjoamalla uudella tiedolla asenteisiin on kuitenkin mahdollista vaikuttaa. Tässä opinnäytteessä lähestyttiinkin asennekysymystä opetuksen kautta tutkimalla dokumenttielokuvan potentiaalia toimia opetusvälineenä.

Opinnäytteen tavoitteena oli kuvailla, millaisena päihderiippuvaisten elämä välittyy hoitotyön opiskelijoille Viinapiru 2: Kynnyksiä - ja Piikki sydämessä -dokumenttielokuvista valittujen teemojen kautta sekä vertailla elokuvia keskenään kokemusten välittäjinä. Tulosten pohjalta voitiin suuntaa-antavasti arvioida, toisiko jompikumpi elokuvista lisä-arvoa päihdehoitotyön opetukseen päihderiippuvaisten kokemusten välittäjänä.

Opinnäyte toteutettiin toimeksiantona Karelia-ammattikorkeakoululle Asiakaslähtöinen mielenterveys- ja päihdehoitotyö (miepä) -kurssin tarpeisiin. Tutkimuksellinen opinnäyte tehtiin kyselytutkimuksena 27 hoitotyönopiskelijalle, joista jokainen vastasi kolmeen lomakkeeseen. Kyselylomakkeilla oli sekä strukturoituja että avoimia kysymyksiä. Strukturoidut kysymykset analysoitiin Excelin avulla laskemalla vastausten prosenttijakaumia ja avoimet vastaukset ryhmiteltiin elokuvista valikoitujen teemojen sekä lisäteemojen alle.

Tuloksista voidaan päätellä, että molemmat elokuvat sopivat päihdehoitotyön opetukseen. Miepä-kurssin päihdeosion teoriatunteja tulee kuitenkin olla opiskeltuna, ennen kuin elokuvien hyödyntäminen on järkevää. Lisäksi tärkeää on asiantuntijan ohjaama analyysi elokuvan katsomisen jälkeen. Jos tässä opinnäytteessä käsiteltyjä elokuvia hyödynnetään opetuksessa, jatkossa olisi tärkeää tutkia elokuvien vaikuttavuutta opetusvälineenä.

Specially in the somatic care units of health care there can be a lot of attitude problems towards addicted patients. Changing these attitudes is not simple, but with education and the new knowledge it offers these attitudes can be affected. In this thesis the question of attitude is approached by researching the potential of the documentary film as an instrument of teaching.

The goal of this thesis was to describe how the life of addicts is portrayed to students of health care in the documentaries Viinapiru 2: Kynnyksiä and Piikki sydämessä through selected themes and to compare the movies to each other as the intermediaries of experiences. Based on the results an estimate could be made whether either of the documentaries could bring added value to the education in treating people with addictions as an intermediary of their experiences.

This thesis was carried out as an assignment for Karelia University of Applied Sciences for the needs of the course Client-oriented Mental Health Nursing and Nursing of Substance Abusers (Miepä). This research-oriented thesis was made as a questionnaire to 27 health care students, each of whom answered three questions. The questionnaire forms had structured and also open questions. The structured questions were analyzed through Excel by calculating the percentage distribution of the answers and the open questions were grouped under the themes selected from the documentaries and additional themes.

From the results it could be derived that both of the documentaries are suitable for the education of nursing of substance abusers. Although the students should have attended the theoretical lessons of the Miepä-course before the use of the movies would make sense. Additionally, it would be important to have an analysis led by a professional after viewing the documentaries. If the documentaries this thesis deals with are used in education, it would be interesting in the future to study the effects of the documentaries as mediums of education.
