The aim of this thesis was to develop Joensauna’s operations to become more customer oriented. Joensauna is a sauna collective the aim of which is to maintain and promote the Finnish sauna culture by arranging sauna events in eastern Finland. This thesis is based on Joensauna’s sauna event in October 2019. The event took three days and it was arranged in the event garden Botania. The concept of the event was based on the use of all human senses and the idea was to bring people together to relax and enjoy.
To understand customers’ values and needs, a customer survey was conducted. The aim was to find out a potential target group, customers’ reasons for participating on this kind of an event and to get an understanding of the event from a customer’s point of view. Based on the results of the survey, a user persona, a customer journey map and a service blueprint were created.
This thesis presents the results as well as some development ideas. The results illustrate how the commissioner can improve its operations and take customers’ point of views into consideration.
The theoretical part of this thesis focuses on service design, how to create value to the customers and the service design process.
