Tiivistelmä
Opinnäytetyö on Laurea-ammattikorkeakoulun rikosseuraamusalan opinnäytetyö. Opinnäytetyössä selvitin seksuaalirikollisten hoidon tuloksellisuutta kirjallisen materiaalin ja tutkimusten perusteella.
Tarkoituksena oli selvittää millaisena tällä hetkellä näyttäytyy erinäisten hoitomuotojen vaikutus perinteisesti hyvin ongelmallisena pidettyyn rikollisryhmään.
Opinnäytetyön aineisto koostui valikoimasta artikkeleja ja asiaa käsittelevää kirjallisuutta. Artikkelit valittiin edustamaan laajalti alan uusinta tutkimusta.
Kognitiivisbehavioraalisten ohjelmien vaikutus uusintariskiin on erityisesti merkittävässä roolissa tarkasteltaessa seksuaalirikollisten hoitoa ja tämä näkyi myös kirjallisessa materiaalissa ja sen valinnassa. Kognitiiivisbehavioraalisten hoitojen lisäksi käsittelyyn otettiin myös restoratiivisen oikeuden erilaiset sovellukset sekä lääkehoito. Teoksessa nousi esille myös kovenevien arvojen vaikutus seksuaalrikollisten hoitotyöhön.
Meta-analyysien mukaan hoidoilla on vaikutusta, mutta tieteellistä varmuutta on vaikea saada metodologisten vaikeuksien takia. Vaikka kehitystä on tapahtunut huomattavasti, jää todennaköiseksi, että varmaa todistusaineistoa kognitiivisbehavioraalisten hoitojen vaikuttavuudesta voidaan joutua odottamaan hyvinkin pitkään. On the subject of treating sexual offenders: Problems, Possibilities and Results
This thesis was made for the Degree Programme in Criminal Sanctions of Laurea University. The focus of the thesis in question concerns issues of treating sexual offenders. The aim was to review literary materials on the subject in order to gain an insight on what kind of problems, possibilities and results are to be expected when dealing with the treatment of sexual offenders.
The aim was to find out how different approaches to treatment affect this group of offenders.
The main focus of the thesis was on cognitive behavioral treatments with restorative justice and pharmacological treatments also receiving attention. Treatment of sexual offenders gets placed within a context of a changing punitive climate and an increased interest in limiting and minimizing risk in public societies. In addition to cognitive behavioural treatment, also restorative and pharmacological treatments were placed under study.
This thesis was based on a selection of articles from a variety of different literary sources. From the material emerged a consensus that the most promising method of treating sexual offenders is the cognitive behavioral approach. Problems arise however when searching for more conclusive evidence as due to the nature of the subject it is unlikely that such evidence will be produced in the near future. There remains the possibility that this subject will not be resolved to everyone’s satisfaction and will remain open for debate.
