Burnout exists among nurses in various countries. Burnout not only affects the job satisfaction and health of nurses, but it also affects the quality of care for patients. Finding the influencing factors of burnout and taking appropriate and effective preventive measures has positive significance for clinical nursing work and medical units.
The purpose of this study is to provide useful and executable information for the managers working in healthcare and for nurses. The study can benefit the healthy and stable nursing teams to bring high quality care to the society. This study could also help nurses in clinical work to find their own effective methods and gain more sense of value and accomplishment in their nursing career. The aim of this study is to con-duct a literature review, in order to explore the reasons of job burnout among nurses and to find out the methods to prevent job burnout among nurses.
A descriptive literature review is applied in this study. The ten articles selected for this study are from academic databases, including PubMed, Sage and EBSCO. The method of data analysis is thematic analysis. The selected articles are written in English, peer reviewed, scientific and full text.
The findings show that various factors contribute to the burnout among nurses. Identifying the main influencing factors is instructive for the choice of interventions. This study explores different kinds of factors that affect the burnout among nurses and out-lines different effective interventions that contribute to the reduction of burnout among nurses.
