Kotoa lähtö -lyhytelokuvan sävellysprojekti

Abstract

Opinnäytetyön taiteellisessa osiossa Outa Paju sävelsi kappaleen Uni irrallisuudesta lyhytelokuvaan Kotoa lähtö. Tämä Jukka Tarkiaisen ohjaama ja käsikirjoittama lyhytelokuva on summaus kuvataiteilija Helena Junttilan matkasta Japaniin, kun hän osallistui Spirit of "North" -projektin symposiumiin ja näyttelyihin. Kotoa lähtö kertoo myös Japania järisyttäneistä katastrofeista: Tohokun alueella sattuneesta suuresta maanjäristyksestä ja siitä seuranneesta ydinvoimalaonnettomuudesta. Elokuva kertoo myös kuvataiteilijan kokemasta empatiasta alueen ihmisiä kohtaan.

Uni irrallisuudesta on lähes 7 minuuttia pitkä pianosävellys, joka rytmittää Kotoa lähtö -lyhytelokuvaa. Opinnäytetyön kirjallisessa osuudessa käydään hieman läpi elokuvamusiikin historiaa, elokuvamusiikin tehtäviä, kerrotaan Spirit of "North" -projektista ja avataan Uni irrallisuudesta -kappaleen sävellysprosessia.

In the artistic part of her thesis, Outa Paju composed the song Dream about Detachment for the short film Leaving Home. This short film, written and directed by Jukka Tarkiainen, is a summary of the trip visual artist Helena Junttila took to Japan to participate in the symposium and exhibitions of Spirit of ”North” project. Leaving Home also deals with disasters that struck Japan, namely the massive earthquake in Tohoku that caused a nuclear disaster. The short film also deals with the empathy that the visual artist feels for people in the area.

Dream about Detachment is a roughly 7-minute composition that gives Leaving Home its tempo. The written part of the thesis includes a brief overview of the history and the aim of film scores. Furthermore, there is an overview of the Spirit of ”North” project, as well as an analysis of the writing process of Dream about Detachment.
