Jatkokehitysideana on järjestää aiheesta oppitunti, jossa keskitytään erityisesti hands-off -ajan minimointiin. Tämän lisäksi olisi mielenkiintoista tutkia, miten hoitoelvytysvideo tukee sairaanhoitaja- ja terveydenhoitajaopiskelijoiden oppimista. Tämänhetkisen COVID-19-pandemian vuoksi olisi ajankohtaista tehdä video COVID-19-potilaan elvytyksestä ja siihen liittyvistä varotoimista. According to recent studies, the resuscitation skills of nurses and nursing students cannot be considered adequate. There is a difference between the knowledge and the practical implementation of high-quality resuscitation which is associated with the worst survival rate for cardiac arrest. The main factors affecting the quality of resuscitation are the hands-off time, continuous cardiopulmonary resuscitation, the depth and the pace of the chest compressions and the allowance of the chest to recoil after each compression.
The aim of this practise-based thesis was to create an educational video for the nursing and public health nursing students at Karelia University of Applied Sciences on high-quality advanced life support. The purpose of this thesis was to improve the preparedness of students to respond to cardiac arrest scenarios. Studies show that using a video as part of traditional teaching methods enhances learning and mastering the skills.
An idea for further development is to organize a lesson about resuscitation with a special focus on minimizing hands-off time. In addition, it would be interesting to research how the resuscitation video supports the learning of nursing and public health students. Currently, due to the present COVID-19 pandemic, it would be topical to make a video on precautions related to the resuscitation of a COVID-19 patient.
