Tiivistelmä
Opinnäytetyön tavoitteena oli selvittää, millaisia kokemuksia aivovammakuntoutujilla on kuntoutuksesta yleisesti ja millainen rooli fysioterapialla on ollut kuntoutuksessa. Tarkoituksena oli tuoda haastatteluiden pohjalta fysioterapian vaikuttavuutta näkyvämmäksi aivovammakuntoutuksessa, sillä fysioterapian vaikuttavuutta aivovammakuntoutuksessa on tutkittu vähän.
Opinnäytetyön toimeksiantajana toimi Aivovammaliitto. Opinnäytetyö toteutettiin laadullisena tutkimuksena. Aineistokeruumenetelmänä käytettiin teemahaastattelua. Teemaalueet olivat kuntoutusprosessin alkuvaihe, kokemukset fysioterapiasta sekä tämänhetkiset kuntoutuspalvelut. Haastattelut tehtiin kolmelle aivovammakuntoutujalle ja yhdelle AVH-kuntoutujalle. AVH-kuntoutujan tausta selvisi vasta haastattelutilanteessa. Analyysi tehtiin aineistolähtöistä sisällönanalyysiä mukaillen.
Haastatteluissa selvisi, että haastateltavilla oli vaikeuksia saada alkuvaiheessa oikeanlaista kuntoutusta, sillä aivovamma ei tuonut heidän kohdallaan ulkoisia vaurioita, jolloin fysioterapian tai muiden kuntoutusmuotojen tarpeellisuutta oli haastava arvioida. Jokainen aivovamman saanut haastateltava oli käynyt pitkät taistelut oikeudessa, jotta olivat saaneet vakuutuksen kautta kuntoutusta aivovammalleen. Fysioterapian kuntoutujat näkevät tärkeimpänä kuntoutusmuotona. AVH-kuntoutuja sai hyvää kuntoutusta heti vammauduttuaan ja koki myös fysioterapian kuntoutusmuodoista tärkeimmäksi. The aim of this thesis is to find out what kind of experiences Brain Injury rehabilitees
have about the rehabilitation process and what is the role of physiotherapy in the whole process. The purpose is to make the effectiveness of physiotherapy more visible with the help of the interviews because the effectiveness of physiotherapy has not been researched much.
The thesis was commissioned by Aivovammaliitto. The thesis was done as qualitative research and the material was collected through theme interviews. The themes were the rehabilitation process in the beginning, experiences of physiotherapy and what kind of rehabilitation forms are the rehabilitees getting now. The interviews were done with three brain injury rehabilitees and to one stroke rehabilitee. The stroke rehabilitees background didn’t come out until in the interview situation. The interviews were conducted as individual interviews.
The results of this thesis show that the rehabilitees have difficulties to get the right kind of rehabilitation in the beginning. The problem of getting the rehabilitation was that they didn’t have any external damages. What for it was difficult to assess the need of physiotherapy and other rehabilitation forms. Each of the brain injury rehabilitees of this interview had fought long battles in court to receive rehabilitation for their brain injury through insurance. Rehabilitees saw physiotherapy as the most important form of rehabilitation. The stroke rehabilitee received good rehabilitation already in the beginning of the process and also felt that physiotherapy was the most important form of rehabilitation.
